2022 Presidents' Scholarship: Sofie Horton
Sofie Horton is the daughter of Leonardo Horton, an MRI technologist in the Radiology Department at Cook Children’s.
Sofie graduated from Boyd High School last spring and will be attending Midwestern State University, where she will study Radiology with hopes to become an MRI Technologist like her father. In this field, she plans to impact health care by assisting patients in the discovery and diagnosis of diseases that could potentially be fatal so that she can help them on their path to healing.
Sofie was involved in many organizations and honor societies, such as Phi Theta Kappa, National Honor Society, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, National Society of High School Scholars and received Academic All-State in Volleyball.
When not in school, Sofie volunteered her time with several organizations such as Beautiful Feet Ministry and helped to collect essential items for those in need. She participates in the Health Science Program shadowing doctors and nurses in the Wise Health System.
AP English teacher, Lisa Warren says, “her caring nature and quest for perfection makes her an ideal candidate for a career in the medical field.”
