Serious Safety Event Discussions: A New Quarterly Meeting Launches Monday, Nov. 13

cook childrens logoOn Monday, Nov. 13 at Hochberger Auditorium, the first in a series of quarterly meetings will launch for Cook Children's Medical Center - Fort Worth and Dodson staff. “Significant Safety Event Discussions: Accidental PICC Line Placement” is the first session. 

The purpose of these sessions is for us to have transparent discussions about a serious safety event at the organization and allow us to talk about the learnings that came out of the event and hopefully foster conversation with you in the audience. 

While the event is open to everyone, the presentation is geared toward our medical providers.

Target Audience: All Cook Children’s Medical Center staff.

The Date: Monday, Nov. 13, 2023

The Location: Hochberger Auditorium

The Times: Three sessions will be available so everyone who would like can attend. Sessions will occur at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Food will be included at all three sessions, based on a first come, first served basis so don't be late.

Objectives: At the completion of each Quality and Safety Case Conference, providers should be able to:

1.     Describe a recent case that was seen in our network that resulted in a significant adverse event. 

2.     Identify where there are opportunities for managing future patients with a similar presentation.

3.     Identify personal practices and any changes that may contribute to a safer environment for our patients and/or staff.

4.     Recall patient safety based on core ethical principles – the professional duties to provide benefit and prevent harm.
