Advanced Practice Providers Week
National APP Week is Sept. 25-29

If you have visited Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Prosper, or one of our other many locations, you have likely encountered one of our fantastic Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Did you know that the Cook Children’s Healthcare System has more than 350 Advanced Practice Providers? Just this last year we onboarded 75 new providers, all bringing increased access to exceptional care to families in North Texas. Our team is made up of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and one Certified Nurse Midwife.
What are APPs?
APPs are an important part of the patient care team and practice within their defined scopes of practice at locations such as hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics, urgent care centers, and in many different specialties. APPs do many of the same tasks as physicians, such as prescribing medications and order tests for procedures. APPs have advanced degrees and are trusted medical providers who work hand-in-hand with physicians to create a seamless environment of care. APPs connect the dots between families, nurses, physicians, and other ancillary staff for every child.
This APP Week, you're invited to reach out to one of our Advanced Practice Providers today and let them know how much they are appreciated. You can also recognize an APP on the APP Recognition page on CookNet or nominate them for Peak Performer recognition.
