Ash Wednesday is Feb. 22, 2023

Spiritual Care will offer the Imposition of Ashes for employees at several locations.

Christians of various denominations and creeds observe Lent for 40 days leading up Easter. The first day of Lent is known as Ash Wednesday and falls on February 22 this year.

On Ash Wednesday, Christians often have ashes imposed on their forehead by a clergy person as they are encouraged to reflect on their own humanity and fast from self-indulgence as they prepare for the celebrations of Easter.

Recognizing that many employees may not be able to participate in services within their own faith communities, Spiritual Care will offer the Imposition of Ashes for staff during these times:

Cook Children's Medical Center-Prosper Chapel:

11 a.m.—1 p.m.

5—6 p.m.

Cook Children's Medical Center-Fort Worth Chapel:

8—9 a.m.

11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m.

9:30 —11:30 p.m.

Cook Children's Medical Center-Fort Worth Mediation Room:

3—4 p.m.

Rosedale Office Building (ROB):

9:30—10:30 a.m.

Calmont Office Building:

3:30—4 p.m.

Meacham:

3:30—4 p.m.

For certain units, chaplains will be available to provide the imposition of ashes.  Keep a look out for communication directly from your unit's chaplain for times and location. Chaplains will communicate directly with their assigned units with an established time for offering in their area.

Spiritual Care is unable to accommodate individual requests from employees and staff to provide ashes.  All requests will be referred to the pre-established places and times in which imposition is available. Off-site locations are welcome to participate in the list above.

Patients and families can request ashes from a chaplain during normal business hours.

Please reach out to Spiritual Care (682-885-4030) with questions.
