Peak Performer: Carla Bridges

Carla was a Peak Performer recipient for the third quarter of 2022 (April-June). Below is her nomination letter.
Carla is one of the most authentically positive, empathetic, and compassionate people who has ever worked as a guest relations specialist at our information desks. She’s willingly worked extra-long shifts any time we’ve been short-staffed. Carla embodies what a team player is as she has stepped up over the last several months of being short-staffed, working to keep our desk running in Family Services. Carla was a huge support during the February 2022 ice storm when she stayed for two nights at the hospital. Carla opened and closed the information desks these days, starting at 5 a.m. Without her, we wouldn’t have made it through and she carried us to a place in which where we were able to hire more staff. She always has an optimistic attitude and is greeting families, visitors, and staff with warmth as they come in the door. The smile on her face and her genuinely caring stance do not waiver.
Carla has willingly stepped into supporting several initiatives within Family Services, as opportunities have begun to return to, and add new, family and parent-focused programming. This is all new for her since she started well into pandemic restrictions, but her enthusiasm is contagious, and her desire to support the parents and caregivers of our patients through these programs is motivating and energizing for the rest of the team. Carla is what our team needs at this point in time to keep us focused and engaged to provide a program that is truly family-centered.
Daily, Carla works diligently to clean our desk area, emptying trash, stocking, and wiping down the areas of high-touch to maintain excellence in safety. Carla has kept our staff healthy and safe during the pandemic by her relentless care of a clean, neat and healthy space. I can see Carla change the trash bags at the desk several times a day, she is not only concerned with the cleanliness but cares about the impression that is given at the front desk. Many state that they are happy to work here and love the organization – but she truly embodies that.
