Celebrations at the Jane Justin School
Photos and videos from graduation and other spring events.
Sharing hugs, snapshots and a few tears, the Jane Justin School held graduation ceremony, saying congratulations and good luck to three students. Jane Justin School is a private school under the Child Study Center at Cook Children's that provides special education to children ages 3-21 with developmental and learning disabilities, and emphasizes individualized instruction, small class sizes, and a focus on mastering skills.
We were there to capture photos as the graduates got their diplomas.
VIDEO: Show tunes with the student choir
On May 9, families, supporters and teachers gathered for a student choir performance, featuring the voices of middle and high school students who performed musical theater standards. It was such a treat! Please take a moment to enjoy a video of their concert.
VIDEO: Pilot internship program a success
We told you in December 2022 about a pilot internship program at Cook Children's. Formally known as the Integrated Workforce Training Pilot Program, the internship initiative was born of the vision of Cook Children’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (ID&E) team as they identified new ways for Cook Children’s to lead with inclusivity. The internship offers students a real-life work setting to practice and hone the skills they’ve learned while attending the Jane Justin School.
Just like their in-school instruction, the internship is aligned with the student’s unique strengths, interests and hobbies. Eduardo Padilla, who graduated this month, spent his internship with the Public Relations, Internal Communications and ID&E department, where he put his passion for photography to great use. He took photos at events that were used on Cook Children's social media channels and on CookNet. He produced a video about the internship program, interviewing fellow students on camera about their experiences and editing the video.
Please take a moment to watch his amazing work in his special video.
