Community Healing: How North Texans Can Support Flood Relief Efforts
The news of the tragedy at Camp Mystic hits home for many at Cook Children's. As an organization, we host camps year-round. Our campers and counselors from Camp Sanguinity, dedicated to serving both children with cancer and their siblings, returned to Fort Worth safely on Friday and were not involved in any flooding.
We understand the coming days, weeks, and even months will be incredibly challenging. Cook Children's wants you to know you are not alone, and we understand it is important to find ways to cope with this tragedy.
Kristen Pyrc, M.D., Medical Director, of Psychiatry Outpatient Services and the Partial Hospitalization Program for Cook Children’s, emphasized the benefit of pouring into our community and finding ways to help others during this time. Dr. Pyrc says simple acts, like organizing a lemonade stand to benefit the affected families or tying green ribbons on trees to remember the victims, can make a real difference.
