Chavez, MeganTogether We Can Improve Our Patients’ Experience and Reach Our CareShare Goal

By Megan Chavez, VP, Cook Children's Experience

At the heart of our Promise is the commitment to provide exceptional care not just clinically, but emotionally and personally. One of the key ways we measure our success in doing this is through an important question we ask every family after a visit: “How likely are you to recommend us to your friends and family?”

Right now, we are close to meeting our annual goal for this critical measure. Our goal is to have 87% of our families say they trust us enough to recommend us. As of July 15, we are at 86%. This score reflects more than a number. It represents how our families feel about the care they receive, the compassion we show and the way we make them feel seen, heard, respected and valued.

We know how hard you work every day, and we also know how powerful every interaction can be. A warm greeting. Clear communication. A moment of kindness during a difficult time. These things matter and families remember them.

What You Can Do

Here are a few ways you can help elevate every family’s experience:

  • Be Present and Personal: Make eye contact, introduce yourself and explain your role. Learn what matters most to the family.
  • Listen Actively: Ask how the child is not just medically but emotionally. Sometimes a listening ear is the best medicine.
  • Close the Loop: If a family expresses a concern or request, follow through or let them know what to expect next. Be a helping hand.
  • Support Each Other: When we care for each other as colleagues, it reflects in the care we give to patients.

CareShareSmall Moments, Big Impact

One patient’s experience can shape a lifetime of feelings about us and their health care in general. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a lasting impression.

We can achieve our goal together. It will take all of us, across every department, working together with intention and heart. Remember, compassion is contagious. Even if you don’t interact with families often, your efforts create a ripple effect that does.

Let’s keep our focus on what matters most: making every family see and feel that Cook Children’s is the best place for their child’s care.  Your efforts make a difference and your compassion leaves a legacy.

Thank you for everything you do.

transformAction Required: Cook Children's Transitions from Livongo to Transform Program

Cook Children’s has ended our contract with Livongo. If you are still using LIvongo, please end your service and switch to the Transform program on the Personify Health platform.

The Transform program has more comprehensive options for pre-diabetes, weight management and hypertension. We encourage you to look at enrolling in one of these options.

Meters, strips and lancets continue to be available at no charge through Caremark/CVS. To start filling your 90-day supply, bring your new prescription to a local CVS Pharmacy store location for in-store pick-up; OR provide your 90-day supply prescription at Caremark.com to receive it through the CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy.

For assistance with diabetes management, we encourage you to consult your primary care physician or begin care with the Care ATC physician. An in-person physician will be able to follow your health care needs better and provide the needed medical support to you.

If you have Cook Children’s HRA insurance benefit and utilize CareATC, you are seen free of charge. If you have the Cook Children’s HSA benefit, the clinic charge is $10/visit.

In addition to email and calendar services in the cloud, the M365 team will be rolling out:

  • New Microsoft 365 desktop applications

  • Pilot test groups are being contacted now to begin early adoption and feedback. Additional details, training resources, and support information will be shared in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you for your continued support as we modernize our tools to better support collaboration and productivity.
