Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Coverage and Claims Processing Alert

We are aware of an issue affecting some Cook Children's medical plan claims and benefits verification through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX). This issue may have caused certain covered services to appear as non-covered or to be processed incorrectly. BCBSTX is actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

At this time:

  • Members should continue to access care as normal.
  • BCBSTX has placed a temporary hold on claims processing to help prevent claims from being processed incorrectly.
  • Providers should continue submitting claims through standard processes. Benefits verification is expected to be resolved in the coming days.
  • Once the issue is resolved, BCBSTX will reprocess impacted claims as needed and issue updated Explanations of Benefits (EOBs).

Thank you for your patience and understanding as BCBSTX works to resolve this issue. We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. Final Reminder Option 2-1 StockGet Your Flu Shot Before Deadline on Friday

Employees who need a flu vaccine can stop by the Team Health clinic between 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday to get the required shot. This the final reminder before the Friday, Oct. 23 compliance deadline.

If you receive your flu vaccine at your doctor’s office or a pharmacy, please upload proof of vaccination through the My Medical tab in the Enterprise Health Employee Portal. You’ll find a list of valid requirements for documentation on the portal. Visit the portal for information on requesting a medical or religious exemption.

All Cook Children's Health Care team members are expected to meet annual influenza vaccination requirements. Those who do not complete the vaccination requirement by the established deadline will be subject to the corrective action process outlined in Policy HR800:

  • Failure to complete by the deadline: Written Warning
  • Failure to complete within the next 14 days: Final Written Warning
  • Failure to complete within the following 14 days: Suspension

Thank you for helping protect our patients, patient families and one another from infection this flu season.
