It is with great excitement and appreciation that we recognize Andres Ardila, RN, as a DAISY Award recipient at Cook Children’s Medical Center - Prosper! Andres has been an invaluable member of the Cook Children’s family, bringing his dedication and compassion to both the Fort Worth and Prosper campuses. As one of the first team members to help open our Emergency Department, he has played an essential role in shaping the exceptional care we provide today.

Andres is not only a skilled and compassionate nurse, but he is also a true leader in our department. As a preceptor, he guides and mentors new staff, ensuring they feel supported and prepared to deliver outstanding care. His commitment to excellence extends beyond the bedside - his work on the sepsis committee has led to significant improvements for our campus, directly impacting patient outcomes in the best way possible.

Families consistently recognize Andres for his kindness, professionalism, and dedication, leaving glowing reviews that highlight his ability to provide comfort and reassurance in even the most challenging moments. His colleagues describe him as an incredibly hard worker, always willing to step up, lend a hand, and advocate for his patients.DAISY photo leadership

Outside of the hospital, Andres remains just as engaged, actively involved in his community and even finding time to enjoy a game of pickleball! His passion for both his profession and his community truly embodies what the DAISY Award represents.

Andres, your unwavering commitment, leadership, and compassionate care make a lasting impact on our patients, families, and team. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor! We are so grateful for everything you do!

Below are the nomination letters from two patient families:

“This nurse was nothing but amazing to our family. He made sure our daughter had everything she needed during her stay. He constantly brought us warm blankets, snacks, and drinks. He made our visit very comfortable and welcoming. He included my daughter in everything, explained everything to her and us before he did anything, and made sure my daughter was comfortable with anything the staff had to do. He brought us up to the 5th floor and told us stories about his life so my daughter wasn’t scared during the transfer of care. He was so amazing. You could tell he was very devoted to his job and really cared for his patients. His passion for my daughter’s well-being made a huge impression on our family. He went above and beyond our expectations and stood out as a nurse who goes beyond his normal duties without hesitation. We loved him!”

“This nurse got my daughter right in even though someone else came in at the same time. When I asked him why we went first, he said the way my daughter presented told him she needed immediate care. He later brought her a stuffed animal and kept checking on us. We were very scared but had a tremendous team caring for us. I sincerely believe his quick action saved us from a worse outcome. We are forever grateful for his care.”
