Cook Children's Enhances Lactation Room Resources, Introduces Wellness Room Option

Health Me Quick LinksCook Children's is committed to supporting its employees, and in response to recent feedback regarding lactation room availability and conditions at the Main Campus area in Fort Worth, leadership has taken action to improve resources for nursing mothers.

A comprehensive assessment of existing lactation rooms and designated Wellness rooms has been completed. To ensure easy access, a complete listing of designated lactation rooms is now available on the Occupational Health and Healthy Me websites under Maternity Quick Links. Click here for a direct link and more information. Employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these locations. You can find the Occupational Health and Healthy Me sites under “Find It” and then the “Resource Groups” on the new CookNet.

We want to remind anyone using the facility to understand the importance of maintaining these designated lactation rooms for their intended use. These rooms are specifically designed to provide a comfortable and private space for nursing mothers, and it's crucial that these rooms are not repurposed and that approved lactation chairs are not replaced. While some rooms may currently contain massage chairs, these are not suitable for pumping. The priority is to ensure functional and appropriate spaces for nursing mothers.

In addition to the dedicated lactation rooms, Cook Children's is pleased to announce that designated Wellness rooms can also be utilized as lactation rooms. These rooms, located in the Basement of the Main building of Cook Children's Medical Center - Fort Worth (B0032D), second floor of the ROB (Room 2302), and at Calmont (second floor), are equipped with massage chairs and folding chair as an option. Importantly, breast pumps are available in each of these three Wellness room locations as well as offer various wellness resources.
