Donald Beam, M.D., named Medical Director for Hematology/Oncology

Donald Beam, M.D., has been named the new medical director of Hematology/Oncology, effective Oct. 1, 2021.

Gretchen Eames, M.D., plans to continue her role as the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Medical Director.  a

Dr.  Beam did his undergraduate work at Louisiana Tech. His medical education and post graduate education was done at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA. His fellowship was at Duke University. Besides his education,

Dr. Beam’s journey includes visiting every continent except Antarctica, skydiving over the Great Barrier Reef, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, sailing the Nile and hiking Machu Pichu, but he always comes home to Cook Children’s where he has been since 2006.

In 2008, he became a part of the Cancer Committee and Infection Control Committee which he still is a part of today. Since 2013, Dr. Beam has been the Medical Director for Cook Direct Connect and Life After Cancer Program and currently serves as the Chair for the System Credentials Committee and Vice President of the Professional Staff.
