Peak Performer: Emily Gardner
executive secretary, Hematology and Oncology
Emily was a Peak Performer recipient for the third quarter of 2022 (April-June). Below is her nomination letter.
Emily is one of the secretaries for our Oncology department and she is a vital part to our success! She is quick to respond to any request, no matter who needs help whether or not she is the secretary for that physician or nurse. When I started working in the clinic setting, Dr. Ray told me about how incredible she has been to work with and how appreciative he is of her. Over the last 4 months that I have worked in this department, I have been able to work alongside her and see for myself how wonderful she is! A lot of secretarial work happens behind the scenes and it’s very important work that is not as often recognized. I wanted to take the chance to show Emily our appreciation and thank her for everything she does for our staff and patients.
Our Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Oncology patients were making arrangements to attend an annual camp when we realized we were in need of a variety of supplies for the trip up north. One item that most of our patients needed was luggage tags. Going above and beyond her job duties, Emily heard about the need and exceeded our expectations. She designed cool, colorful, personalized luggage tags for each patient that needed one. Although Emily is not even a secretary for the AYA team, she jumped in to support this group and made the campers feel special. It is no doubt that Emily is willing to accept any challenge, and is incredibly helpful with every task.
