2025: A Year of Magic, Milestones, and Major Recognition
What a year it's been! The year of 2025 wasn't just significant—it was absolutely momentous for all that we accomplished.
These openings, milestones, awards and special moments are a powerful reminder of the impact we have and the extraordinary talent within the Cook Children's Health Care System.
A massive congratulations to everyone who contributed to these project and achievements! We look forward to even more moments of magic in the year ahead.
Below are just a few of the year's highlights. All of you achieved truly remarkable things this year! Because we celebrated literally hundreds of stories and moments, these examples represent just a fraction of our collective success — we wish space allowed us to share every single one!
- Seven specialties at Cook Children’s were ranked among the Top 50 by U.S. News and World Report in 2024! (In case you missed it, here are our rankings for 2025.)
- We responded to a measles outbreak and educated and informed our community over many months.
- We broke ground on the historic 760,000-square-foot West Tower. This expansion will significantly enhance our Heart Center (adding two cardiovascular operating rooms for heart transplants) and completely redesign our PICU into 56 private, sunlit rooms to support healing.
- We launched our eighth Neighborhood Health Center in East Fort Worth (Manhattan) and began funding a new Healthy Hub at the Eastside YMCA to fight food insecurity with fresh produce and nutrition education.
- In partnership with JPS Health Network, we opened the Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center. It offers comprehensive medical care for the entire family, a demonstration kitchen, a food pantry, workforce development and more to an area previously designated as a food and health care desert.
- We officially ushered in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Prosper, and it features 10 private rooms and ensures critical care is available close to home for families in the northern region of DFW.
- We received notification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center that our Magnet document has been fully accepted.
- Our Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program earned national accreditation
- Our new Health Center serving the Las Vegas Trail area earned multiple top honors for transforming care
- John Robertson, M.D., was named a finalist for D CEO Excellence in Healthcare Awards
- CCPN was honored by the American Medical Association as a Joy Medicine® organization.
- And if that wasn’t enough, we:
- Screened more than 36,000 patients in the emergency departments for suicide risk and proactively identified children at risk for depression in our primary and urgent care clinics.
- Unveiled the new Nelson Ku High-Risk Asthma Clinic, which addresses the needs of high-risk asthma patients in a one-on-one clinical setting and through community education.
- Opened the Behavioral Health Assessment Center.
- And the list goes on. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! What’s your proudest moment from FY25? Or what accomplishment or milestone are you celebrating the most? Please drop us a line in the “comments” section below!
