Growing Together: The New Kids’ Place

For over 20 years, Kids’ Place Child Development Center has been a cornerstone of the Cook Children’s family. While the walls are changing, the memories, laughter, and family-centered care remain exactly the same.

On May 18, Kids’ Place is officially moving just a few blocks away to a brand-new location on Ninth Avenue (between Cooper and Pruitt streets).

What’s Changing? (Hint: Just the Address!)

Director Christine Clark assures families that while the building is fresh, the heart of the center isn't going anywhere. You can look forward to:

  • Familiar Faces: The same dedicated teachers your children love.
  • A Cozy Environment: The same classroom setup that our children are accustomed to.
  • Family-First Care: Flexible support that fits your busy schedule.

“I think that this will be a new and exciting change for everyone to experience and enjoy,” Clark said.

Helping Our Little Ones Transition

To make the move a breeze, Tyson Heaton, Child Life Specialist and the Bright Horizon educators are using age-appropriate techniques to ensure every child feels secure and happy in their new space.

Kids have been safely helping pack boxes, making them feel like part of the adventure and ready to move into their new space.

Why the Move?

This relocation is a major milestone for the West Tower construction project. Closing and demolishing the 901 Southland Avenue location allows our crews to break ground on the next phase of growth for the Cook Children’s Medical Center – Fort Worth Campus.

The Kids Place move is one of several critical enabling projects that need to take place to prepare our campus for the future.

“Every construction project begins with the careful coordination of smaller meaningful steps. The successful opening of the new Kids Place location is a significant milestone in our expansion project," Spencer Seals, Senior Vice President of Real Estate & Facilities Planning said. "I am particularly excited that the footprint of the previous Southland building will be replaced by a vibrant green space, giving our employees and visitors a welcoming place to connect, recharge, and enjoy for years to come."
