Holiday Help 2024: Support a Patient Family
Complete the Holiday Help Sponsor Sign-Up form by Sunday, Nov. 10.
How can you help spread happiness, hope, and kindness to patient families during the holiday season?
You can help patient families during the upcoming holiday season through our Holiday Help program, formerly known as Holiday Benevolence. Groups of staff, departments and clinics can participate in Holiday Help by sponsoring a family and providing gifts or gift cards. Social workers complete a wish list to help provide guidance for staff sponsors as they go shopping for gifts.
The Holiday Help Herd (Cook Children's chaplains and social workers) matches staff sponsors who sign up on this Google Doc with families referred to by Social Work/Case Management.
Here's how it works:
Support a patient family through gifts
⭑ After confirming your department/unit/clinic wants to sponsor a patient family, select a point-person from your team to complete the Holiday Help Sponsor Sign-Up form no later than Sunday, Nov. 10.
⭑ The Holiday Help Herd updates staff sponsors of their matched patient families Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Nov. 22,—just in time for those post-Thanksgiving sales!
⭑ Sponsoring staff purchase gifts based upon the provided Wish List by Friday, Dec. 13 to ensure patient families can pick up their gifts by Friday, Dec. 20.
Provide Wal-Mart gift cards (or money to buy them)
⭑ Gift cards help families to purchase food, gas, kitchen appliances, and—of course—TOYS.
⭑ To help honor our culturally and religiously diverse patient population, please purchase basic, blue gift cards.
⭑ The Cook Children's Foundation accepts the monetary donations used to purchase gift cards on behalf of Spiritual Care. Please designate funds to “Spiritual Care” when giving on-line or by check.
Help fulfill the Child Life Wish List
⭑ Items from this list benefit patients throughout the year as birthday presents, means of encouragement, prizes, and holiday gifts.
⭑ The Child Life Wish List is attached.

Sunday, Nov. 10—Last day to sign-up to sponsor a patient family for Holiday Help
Monday, Nov. 11—Holiday Help Herd matches patient families with staff sponsors
Tuesday, Nov. 12—Friday, November 22—All staff sponsors notified of their match
Friday, Dec. 13—Last day for staff sponsors to purchase gifts
Friday, Dec. 20—Last day for patient families to pick up their gifts!
