HR Update: Working on the Holidays

Cook Children’s recognizes six holidays each year. On some years, one or more of those holidays may fall on a Saturday or Sunday. For our administrative staff, a holiday that falls on a Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday. For the holiday that falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday. The choice of allowing an employee to work on a holiday (observed or otherwise) is always up to the executive leaders in that area.

Through our various communications channels, including Connect Newsroom, Internal Communications shares and promotes the awards/recognition that Cook Children’s earns (organizationally, departmentally, and individually) from external associations and from internal programs, such as Peak Performers and DAISY awards. We believe that employee engagement is strengthened through telling the stories of our employees and making the connections their roles have with our Promise, patients, families and peers.
