Neurodiagnostics Week

By Rickey Ross, Neurodiagnostics Lab Manager

The Electroencephalogram (EEG) department plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive neurodiagnostic services to patients at Cook Children's Medical Center, Dodson Outpatient Clinic, Hurst Clinic, and Cook Children's Prosper. EEG refers to a non-invasive procedure in which small, flat metal discs called electrodes are attached to the scalp to measure the electrical activity of the brain. From humble beginnings in 2003 with just four EEG techs, we've grown significantly to a team of 25 dedicated professionals who work around the clock to ensure patients receive the highest quality care.

One fun and noteworthy aspect of the EEG team is the camaraderie and collaborative spirit that defines our work culture. Despite the demanding nature of our roles, we've fostered a supportive environment where every team member feels valued and appreciated. Whether it's celebrating birthdays, organizing team-building activities, or simply sharing a laugh during a busy shift, we always find moments to connect and uplift one another.

In addition to our commitment to providing exceptional patient care within Cook Children's, we're proud to extend our expertise to other regional hospitals through partnerships for EEG patient monitoring. A collaboration that ensures patients receive the attention and care they deserve, regardless of where they seek treatment.

Furthermore, our EEG Lab's accreditation through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) speaks to our department's commitment to excellence and integrity, further solidifying our reputation as a leader in neurodiagnostic services.

We look forward to the opportunity to showcase our department's achievements and the incredible work of our team during Neurodiagnostic Week and beyond. neurodiagnostics-2
