Meet Our 2023 Summer Junior Volunteers

As the summer flies by and the new school year quickly approaches, we’d like to celebrate and thank our junior volunteers! These high school students have dedicated their time and energy to working with patients and families at Cook Children’s Medical Center during the summer months. 

Let’s introduce you to some of our Summer 2023 junior volunteers:

Kate Button 2

 

Kate Button, 15

Kate spent her summer volunteering in the radiology department. “I really enjoy interacting with the kids and helping them have the best hospital experience possible,” she said. 

Ella Button 1

 

Ella Button, 17

Elle volunteered on 4 Main. “I love playing with the kids and seeing their joy while they’re in the hospital,” she said. 

Melissa Remezo 1

 

Melissa Remezo, 15

Melissa worked in the Enchanted Castle Gift Shop. “I like seeing all the people who come into the store,” she said. “Everyone is super kind and friendly!”

Ryan and Carter Campbell

 

Ryan and Carter Campbell, 15 & 17

Ryan (right) spent his summer with patient families in the Panda Cares® Center of Hope Sibling Support Center. “It’s been a great summer,” he said. “I enjoy being able to give back to the community!”

Carter (left) went room-to-room interacting with patients as a gaming volunteer this summer. “I love brightening the kids’ days!” he said.
