Meet Your New AI Assistant: Microsoft Copilot Launches at Cook Children’s

Summary

You’re getting access to Microsoft Copilot, an AI-powered assistant designed to help you work more efficiently and collaborate with your teams. Copilot launches on June 8 and we're hosting a training webinar at noon on June 9.

Microsoft Copilot Coming June 8-2

Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant that helps you save time by drafting emails, summarizing conversations, and quickly finding the information you need.

Starting Monday, June 8, 2026, Microsoft Copilot will be available to all Cook Children’s employees, and online training will be available at a webinar on June 9.

Think of Copilot as your built-in digital assistant—ready to help you work more efficiently with the tools you already use every day. Whether you’re catching up on emails, reviewing meeting discussions, or searching for trusted information, Copilot can help you get there faster.

“The future of work isn't about working harder; it’s about working smarter. We are investing in Copilot because we are investing in you,” said Teresa Tonthat, Chief Digital Information Officer. ”By streamlining those tedious, daily tasks, I’m excited that we’re able to launch a tool to give you time back to focus on the meaningful, human-centered work that truly impacts our community."

Here’s how Copilot can support your day:

• Outlook email: Draft responses to emails, summarize long communication threads, or adjust tone for clear and compassionate messaging.

• Teams: Quickly catch up on missed meetings, identify key decisions, and track follow-up tasks—helpful for task coordination and team collaboration.

• Microsoft Edge (Bing Copilot): Ask questions and get quick summaries of general topics, gather data from multiple sources, or background information to support your work.

How to Get Started

Getting started is easy:

1.      Open Outlook, Teams, or Microsoft Edge

2.      Explore training resources

Join in at noon on June 9 when Cook Children’s will host experts from Microsoft for an hourlong Copilot Chat webinar, for a discussion on prompting, and tips and tricks for how to use Copilot. Registration is not required. Click here.

Be on the lookout on CookNet for quick tip sheets to help you get the most out of Copilot. Here is a short video tutorial to help you get started.

A quick reminder: Copilot can help you work faster and more efficiently—but you’re still the expert. Always review and verify information, especially when it relates to patient care, accuracy, and tone.

We’re excited to see how you use Copilot to work more efficiently, save time, and support the important work you do every day.
