More than 550 Cook Children's Patients Receive COVID-19 Vaccine
We are jumping for joy as more than 550 Cook Children’s patients between the ages of 5 and 11 received their COVID-19 vaccine this weekend! Our first of several vaccination clinics opened on Saturday and Sunday and we were thrilled to see so many of our employee families there with their children.
Last week, we received our shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for young children (enough to fully vaccinate more than 3,000) and opened up scheduling to our patients. Within 24 hours, all appointments were booked!
If you didn’t get an appointment for one of these clinics, don’t worry. Several Cook Children’s Pediatrics offices have ordered the COVID-19 vaccine for 5 to 11 year olds and will have them available soon.
In addition, Tarrant County Public Health has a list of more than 100 sites that have the COVID-19 vaccine available for children 5 to 11 across our community: https://www.tarrantcounty.com/vaccinefinder.
If you have questions about the vaccine for this age group, Marc Mazade, M.D., medical director of Infection Control and Prevention at Cook Children’s Medical Center, answers frequently asked questions on Checkup Newsroom: https://www.checkupnewsroom.com/covid-19-vaccination-for-children-5-to-11-your-questions-answered/.
