New Badges: What You Need to Know

Redesign BadgeGet ready for a fresh look and improved functionality with our exciting new employee badges! This isn't just a cosmetic update; it's a thoughtful redesign driven by your feedback and a commitment to making things clearer and more secure for everyone – especially our patients and their families.

This summer we will transition to a badge that's not only visually aligned with our updated Cook Children's branding but also packed with improvements:

  • Leading-Edge Tech: Say hello to improved security! Our new badges will incorporate the latest technology with advanced encryption on badge readers, ensuring a safer environment for all.
  • Crystal Clear Identification: We've listened! For all employees up to and including mangers, badges will now display their first name and last initial, making introductions smoother and more personal. Directors and above, as well as our dedicated clinicians, will continue to have their full names displayed. Security will also maintain their current first and last name format.
  • Simplified & Streamlined: Embracing our new branding, the badges will feature a cleaner, more readable design. We're also focusing on clarity by limiting the information to a maximum of three essential credentials.
  • Badge Buddies! We're excited to roll out a consistent and color-coded system of badge buddies. These will serve two key purposes:
    • Easy Identification: Helping patients and families quickly identify our clinical and patient-facing team members.
    • Credential Clarity: Clearly displaying designated credentials for staff and leaders.
  • Bdge Buddies Badge Buddy Guidelines: Expect color-coded and clearly spelled-out credentials. We're actively building this list, and Directors have the opportunity to submit recommendations for edits or additions.
  • Seamless Rollout: We've partnered with a vendor to bring these badge buddies to life, and the initial round will be covered by this project. Department leadership will play a key role in ensuring these are purchased, distributed, and used consistently.

What's Next?

Keep an eye out! A select group of employees will be beta testing these new badges in early May. Their valuable feedback will help us finalize the timeline for printing and distribution. We'll share more details on this as soon as we have them.
