New Clinical Coordinator at Mansfield Urgent Care Selected as DFW Great 100 Nurses

Ineshia Simmons always wanted to be a nurse at Cook Children’s.
Now she joins us as not only the clinical coordinator at Mansfield Urgent Care Unit, but as one of the DFW Great 100 Nurses.
Ineshia has only been at Cook Children’s for 86 days, but recently she learned her peers at her previous job had nominated her as one of the area’s best nurses. Before coming to Cook Children’s, Ineshia worked for 11 years at Medical City Arlington, where she was most recently the clinical nurse coordinator in the Mom Baby Unit.
The day the selections for the DFW Great 100 Nurses were being announced, Ineshia knew something was up because her former coworkers were texting and asking her to check her emails. Ineshia had the unique chance to celebrate twice, not only with her team that nominated her, but also with her new work family at Cook Children’s.
“It was fun,” she said. “The crew here at Cook Children’s was all so welcoming. I felt all the love from them.”
While she’s new at Cook Children’s, Ineshia is not new to the system. Her child is a patient of Laurie Gray, M.D., a Cook Children’s pediatrician, and working here has always been one of Ineshia’s goals. While still in nursing school, she applied here, but “I wasn’t even a nurse yet,” she said with a laugh.
During her time at Medical City, her role shifted more to taking care of the moms of newborns instead of the babies. She continued to keep an eye out on joining Cook Children’s, and when she saw the opening at the Mansfield Urgent Care Center, she jumped at the chance.
“I love it here. I had always heard about the Cook Children’s name and wanted to work here for a very long time,” she said. “I’m so glad to be here now and get the chance to work with young kids again. This is a dream come true.”
