No Fooling: Join Our Mission to #blastawaycancer on April 1

Sign up now to participate in The Blast, our annual walk benefiting the Cook Children’s Hematology and Oncology Center.

This year we are back at Panther Island Pavilion on Saturday, April 1 with 5K and 1K walk routes. The event opens at 8 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9 a.m. The walk is family-friendly and includes a DJ, team and fundraising awards, food trucks, a Kid Zone with balloon and glitter tattoo artists, an obstacle course, and mobile Build-A-Bear.

There are several teams you can join, the biggest being Cook Children’s Healthcare System coordinated by the Wellness Zone

Here are the details:

·         Registration and event information are on the event website: www.blastwalk.org

·         Blast spirit t-shirts are available in the Enchanted Castle Gift Shop as well as online here. Kids’ sizes are only available online.

·         Employees can register for The Blast using code CCHCS10 for $10 off the cost.

The Blast started as a promise between two young friends to eradicate neuroblastoma. Today, every dollar raised for The Blast supports all pediatric cancer programs at Cook Children’s, bringing essential funds to our research and support for families.

The Blast honors past and present patients in a number of ways. Every hematology/oncology patient family can request a sign with their loved one’s name, diagnosis, photo, and a personal message to be displayed on the Tribute Walk, a section of the walk route. This beautiful display helps us honor and remember our angels, fighters, and survivors. This year we will also have an interactive display for people to add a star to the wall to commemorate who they are walking for.

Your support ensures Cook Children’s patients receive out-of-this-world care, close to home. Sign up now!
