Peak Performer: Christine Owens

manager, Provider Relations

Summary

Christine was a Peak Performer recipient for the fourth quarter of 2022 (July-September). Below is her nomination letter.

CHRISTINA OWENS PhotoChristine Owens is generous, courteous, and one of the most likable people you will ever meet. She continually puts Cook Children's above all else, serving Cook Children's Health Plan members by creating solid, trusting relationships with our provider network. We could not serve our membership the way we do without the work Christine tirelessly puts in. She consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of her and offers to help others inside and outside of her department long before anyone would think to ask. She is a strong leader with a team that performs as a mirror of her giving, affable spirit.

Christine's director needed to take some unexpected time off. Cook Children's Health Plan was in the midst of a readiness review for Behavioral Health insourcing. If you've never been a part of a readiness review with Texas Health and Human Services, just know that it is incredibly intimidating, with requests and demands thrown from every direction. When Christine's director needed to be absent, Christine jumped immediately into the fray of the readiness review, providing documentation of her policies, procedures, and processes, even creating a presentation for the state on a moment's notice.
