Peak Performer: Dao Mai

Cook II, Restaurant-Medical Center

Dao was a Peak Performer recipient for the fourth quarter of 2021 (July-September). Below is her nomination letter.

Dao is the face of Cook Children's Camelot Court; an outstanding employee that takes pride in preparing and serving her special gluten-friendly meals. When eating from Dao’s station you would think you're dining at a fine restaurant her food is incredibly delicious. Dao always greets customers by their name, her smile is contagious and will brighten your day. Customers will stop by just to say hello even if they’re not eating from her station. Dao goes above and beyond every single day which makes her an outstanding representative for Cook Children’s Medical Center.

Dao is consistent every day with providing the best customer service. She cooks delicious, healthy options in the cafeteria and serves them daily with pride and a smile. Dao is a warm, welcoming face to those of us who are usually in a hurry and stressed.

I collected some comments from a group of therapists on our unit since we all agree about our mutual admiration of Dao.

“She always greets us with a smile and encourages us to enjoy our lunch as we leave.”

“Dao is amazing! I don’t purchase my lunch often because I have so many food allergies. However, I am always thankful for Dao’s gluten-free options and how wonderful the food tastes! She has made eating in the cafeteria an option for me and I am always extremely grateful! Plus, she is always happy and brings a smile to my face!”

“Dao takes pride in her work and is ALWAYS pleasant and willing to offer a kind word.”

“She has been providing service to me for more than 5 years and not a single day has she had a negative emotion or reaction. She is a smiling face who should be recognized for her daily work. She puts a little something extra in all that she does and she exudes service with a smile. She interacts with families in a positive way and is always helpful, making eye contact and being intentional with her conversations.”

Dao presents a sense of kindness that makes you stop, slow down, and say hello, and she is so deserving of recognition. Thank you Dao for all your kindness and hard work. You are appreciated!
