Peak Performer: Gissell Franco
insurance specialist, MC Dermatology Clinic
Gissell was a Peak Performer recipient for the second quarter of 2022 (January-March). Below is her nomination letter.
Gissell normally works as an insurance specialist and is required to check the benefits and complete estimates on several hundred patients a month while also assisting with surgery scheduling. She has performed these tasks without issue year over year, and these very skills were on display when Cook Children's was required to meet the requirements of the No Surprises Act (NSA). Per the NSA, Cook Children’s, like many health care organizations across the country, was required to provide specific billing information prior to office visits and procedures. Gissell familiarized herself with these requirements and has not missed a step in ensuring Dermatology is meeting all regulatory requirements of the NSA. Not once did the Dermatology Management team have to retrain on this task or call on other departments for assistance. Gissell handled it from Day 1!
Gissell is very dependable and reliable and shows initiative by arriving to work early to help prepare for the day. She continued to maintain insurance duties and help check in and check out while the clinic was short-staffed. Her two teammates handle more than 600 phone calls a month while servicing roughly 725 patients a month. Gisell easily helped this work and her own assignments as the insurance specialist with the utmost professionalism. She quietly stepped in and rocked it! Gissell is definitely a Peak Performer!
Gissell has stepped in and helped work as a medical receptionist when both medical receptionists were out for a week. She continued to work hard and go above and beyond for patients and families. She stepped up to the plate and rocked it. Kudos to Gissell.
