Peak Performer: Jessica Lucero, NP

NP, Northside Neighborhood Clinic

Summary

Jessica was a Peak Performer recipient for the second quarter of 2022 (January-March). Below is her nomination letter.

JESSICA LUCERO, MSN, CPNP-PC PhotoJessica is one of the best nurse practitioners that I have ever worked with. Patients love her and she has a strong patient base at the Northside Neighborhood Clinic. Jessica upholds the Cook Children's Promise that every child's life is sacred by treating each patient the way she would like her son treated. She exhibits caring, empathy and energy in her patient care. There are many evenings, after all the other providers have left for the day, that she is still in the clinic - calling patients for necessary follow-up, charting and consulting with other specialists and providers.

In addition to her tireless efforts with her patients, Jessica precepts many students. She makes sure that the students observe what a professional NP should model in clinic. She reinforces evidence-based practices and helps students find resources for their many questions. Every student that she mentors expresses sincere gratitude for her diligence and excellence as a teacher and provider. She has influenced many wonderful NP students (and now practicing NPs) over the course of her career. Any student that has worked with Jessica will tell you that they "were so lucky to have trained under her supervision". I agree.

Jessica, you have replicated excellence in the NP workforce due to your consistent and tenacious practice. The NP world is forever grateful for such an exemplary role model.

I had a patient that was scheduled with one of our other providers. Our provider had several complex patients that made her late with a virtual appointment. Jessica was here catching up on her charts and volunteered to do the virtual visit for the doctor. Jessica will go above and beyond and we greatly appreciate her.
