Peak Performer: Kaitlyn Miller

Katie is a great nurse and a phenomenal addition to our Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia team. Katie has "jumped in" and seamlessly integrated herself into our team. Katie goes above and beyond for our patients. Recently, Katie was reviewing lab orders for a patient and noticed that I had ordered one of the labs to result to the wrong place (CCMC vs an outside lab). She called me to discuss it and walked me through the process of correcting it. By doing this, she made it possible for all of the patient's labs to be completed with a single blood draw and also simplified the experience for the family.

Katie is Dr. Thornton's nurse and she works in the Endocrinology Department. However, she was completely willing to help monitor the patients that Dr. Thornton sees in the Urology clinic as part of our multidisciplinary Disorders of Sexual Development team. Katie reviews his orders, calls families to remind them of the need for pre-visit labs, and has contact with Dr. Thornton when the labs have resulted. She has helped to increase compliance with lab orders, which ensures that the patients and families have the most efficient visit possible.
