Peak Performer: Lexi Kennedy, LVN
LVN clinic nurse, Ortho-Walsh
Lexi was a Peak Performer recipient for the third quarter of 2022 (April-June). Below is her nomination letter.
Lexi is a fairly new nurse, she started with the Orthopedic department as a medical assistant and went back to school to obtain her LVN license. She has really stepped up as a nurse leader at the Walsh facility. She has gone above and beyond for many patients and visitors at that location. Many times, Lexi is the only nurse on-site in the mornings until the UCC opens up. On a couple of occasions, Lexi has stepped up to assist a patient or visitor in a medical crisis. Most recently, Lexi was called upon by the front desk staff to assist a patient’s aunt who was in need of medical care. Even though this happened to be an adult, Lexi without hesitation sprang into action and provided the needed care until EMS arrived.
Additionally, Lexi is always eager to help out her peers. Lexi has been witnessed on several occasions helping her co-workers with assigned tasks to ensure that things are completed in a timely manner and our patients are taken the best care of. Communication is a strong quality of Lexi’s as she coordinates with all of the departments in the Walsh building, making her a go-to person for solutions to questions or concerns. She will even help out in the UCC by covering open shifts when she can.
Recently Lexi has taken it upon herself to go into our scheduling work ques which is normally a clerical task to provide guidance to schedulers to make them easier to schedule. If that isn’t working, she has also called the patients herself to get them scheduled again in order to take care of our patients in a timely manner.
The leadership team is extremely grateful for Lexi and the hard work and dedication she puts into our department and patients. Lexi is an all-around wonderful nurse, her experience with pediatrics and caring heart shows in her day-to-day work here at Walsh.
