Peak Performer: Maranda Diaz, NP/PA
NP/PA, Hematology/Oncology
Maranda was a Peak Performer recipient for the second quarter of 2022 (January-March). Below is her nomination letter.
As a nurse practitioner, Maranda has always gone above and beyond in taking care of patients and their families. In one particular instance, it was through her careful notice to details, a critical lab abnormality was identified in a patient who could then receive appropriate therapy. It is important that I point out that she has played a crucial role in ensuring that children with malignant diagnosis get appropriate care and eventually go on to live a full life.
In addition to her every day extremely busy clinical schedule, she has volunteered to participate in several efforts in program billing – in particular, her role in support of the histiocytic disorder program has made a critical difference in children with LCH and HLH. Maranda is the heart and soul of the inpatient oncology department. She works very hard ensuring thorough, efficient and safe care for each of our patients. She is on multiple committees focused on quality and safety within the oncology department and abroad.
Maranda goes above and beyond doing more than her share of the work and always does this with a kind word and a smile. Her door is always open, helping educate nurses and coworkers. She is humble in her vast knowledge and experience and the first to ask questions if she is not familiar with the answers. As a department we are so lucky to have her.
