Peak Performer: Michelle Salts

Michelle Salts is an amazing Hematology and Oncology lab scientist as she is diligent and thorough in her work and takes great care in her role. She once confidently diagnosed blasts on a complete blood count and caught a patient's relapse before anyone else noticed. To be sure about the diagnosis, Michelle recommended a bone marrow be done on this patient and sure enough, the patient had relapsed leukemia. Without Michelle, we wouldn't have known about this patient's relapse and created a new plan as early as we did.

​Michelle provided excellent service to one of our patients by helping to minimize the number of pokes a patient had to get. She helped a coworker figure out how to send a lab specimen to the main lab from the hematology lab and avoided another painful poke for this patient. The expertise Michelle has, coupled with her kind heart and compassion for our patients here at Cook Children's makes Michelle a Peak Performer!
