Peak Performer: Shanta Walker

Shanta was a Peak Performer recipient for the second quarter of 2022 (January-March). Below is her nomination letter.
As Shanta’s supervisor, I have had the pleasure to interview and hire her. Shanta came to Cook Children’s exuding sunshine. Everything about her personality glows. I receive so much feedback on a daily basis about Shanta and how wonderful she is. I think it is only prudent to share. Shanta’s favorite color is yellow, which is so fitting because if you ask anyone about her she exudes sunshine, literally.
Shanta works in our multispecialty clinic in Hurst but is quick to volunteer in other departments and of course, she excels at everything she does. This was the feedback we got from a family when she volunteered for one of our community vaccine clinics:
“Hello, I wanted to share that I took my two kids to the Cook Children's Urgent Care in Southlake for their COVID vaccine on 11/28/21 at 11 a.m. and we had Shante administer the shots. She was very courteous, friendly, and patient. She took the time to ensure our kids feel very comfortable even though they came in a bit anxious about the shot. She is an asset to your team, and we are glad she is there! Thank you!!!”
That is just one of the many comments she gets from families on a regular basis. Shanta is also an asset to all of her providers who absolutely love her. Some of the feedback I get from the providers are:
“Shanta is a joy to work with and multiple patients/families have commented on her infectious smile, positive attitude and willingness to assist them with any problems/concerns. I appreciate her willingness to teach/share information and I respect that she is always seeking out learning opportunities to further and advance her knowledge base.”
“Shanta is a ray of sunshine! From the moment she starts her day, she is kind, thoughtful, and diligent. She goes above and beyond to check to see if the doctors have everything they need to take care of the patients. Her laughter is contagious and puts our patients both at ease and in great spirits. She is reliable and hard-working. If more people were like Shanta, the world would be a better place.”
Shanta is truly one of the best MA’s I have ever worked with and definitely a Peak Performer!
