Peak Performer: Wendy Rosas

Wendy was a Peak Performer recipient for the fourth quarter of 2022 (July-September). Below is her nomination letter.
Wendy and I first met when she was training as a housekeeper. I noticed her drive to do a great job from the beginning. Weeks later, she floated to my floor and I was SO excited to see her because I knew we would be taken care of that day. Wendy made sure to introduce herself to all of the staff, she was accessible to staff and patients, and she busted her butt to make sure the unit, and our rooms were clean. I noticed Wendy going above and beyond, unlike other housekeepers that come to our unit. Our unit sparkled, and even patients noticed how clean it was. This demonstrated her strong work ethic and caring nature to make sure we are all taken care of. This was not Wendy simply “doing her job.” This was someone who wasn’t OK with the mediocre. No matter what her job was, she was going to go above and beyond to do the best job possible.
One day when I was riding in the elevator with Wendy, I asked where she was working that day. She was SO excited to inform me that she was promoted to the supervisor role. That’s not surprising since she is such a hard worker. We had a lot of discharges that day, and before I knew it, Wendy was on our floor in her supervisor role cleaning rooms to turn them over for new admissions. I have never seen a supervisor jump in and clean. Wendy was such a team player to do that for her team and to help expedite admissions during this time of high census. Wendy is so deserving of a Peak Performer because of her drive to get the job done, whatever the job is. She exhibits teamwork, collaboration and a very caring heart every shift she works at Cook Children’s!
