Good afternoon Prosper family,

Your leadership team hopes that you all are enjoying your summer and staying cool in this heat! We have lots of activity coming over the next few months so stay tuned for all of the info on our Employee Benefits fair, Sepsis Day, Employees Care sign up, and the NICU opening! We are so excited to bring a Cook Children's NICU to this area. We appreciate you all for your dedication to providing safe, high quality care to the children in the community.

MOB Team News: Peak Performer Winner and DAISY Nominee

We're thrilled to celebrate two outstanding members of our MOB team for their recent, well-deserved recognition! A huge congratulations goes to Kristen Lomeli, APRN, CPNP-AC, from our Prosper endocrinology clinic, who was honored with the prestigious Peak Performer Award. Her dedication truly shines! 

We're also incredibly proud to announce our very first MOB DAISY Award Nominee, Nicole Massey, RN, from our Prosper H/O Clinic. Both Kristen and Nicole exemplify the incredible talent and compassionate care that make our MOB team so exceptional. We're so lucky to have them!

Disaster Drill: A Collaborative Success!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our recent disaster drill! This vital exercise saw multiple departments and leaders working together, demonstrating incredible dedication and teamwork. These drills are essential for us to continuously improve our response strategies, ensuring we're always ready to provide the best possible care in any situation. Your commitment helps us strengthen our commitment to safety and our patients!

Christmas in July Patient Celebration

Our patients had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas in July! Cook Children's - Prosper was filled with cheer as children participated in festive crafts, creating their own holiday masterpieces. A highlight for many was the special visit from Santa Claus, who brought smiles to everyone he met. It was a joyful occasion, bringing a little bit of winter wonder to a summer day! 

Room Pressure Monitors

Room pressure is a very important infection control measure.

• Negative pressure rooms prevent infectious organisms from escaping into adjacent spaces.
• Positive pressure rooms prevent infectious organisms from entering the room.

Setra sensors are used to ensure rooms are either positive or negative based on room requirements. The facilities department monitors these sensors and receives notification when a room is out of compliance.

Negative or positive room pressure is achieved with the door closed. Please make sure the doors to all monitored rooms remain closed.

If a Setra sensor is alarming, staff are able to temporarily mute the alarm. If the reason for the alarm is an open door, please close the door and allow a few minutes for the alarm to resolve and the screen to return to green. If the alarm does not resolve and the sensor screen remains red, contact facilities.

Call for Ideas: World Sepsis Day Theme

World Sepsis Day is just around the corner on Sept. 13, and we're gearing up to shine a spotlight on sepsis in children. This serious complication of infection can be incredibly dangerous, but early recognition of the signs can be life-saving for our young patients. We're on the hunt for a compelling and memorable theme to drive our awareness campaign among the Prosper family. Do you have an impactful idea that will help us educate and protect our children from sepsis? Sepsis Conference 2025: Early-Bird Registration Ending Soon!

The DFW Hospital Council Foundation is hosting this year's Sepsis Conference on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Tarrant County College, Trinity River Campus. Register here and read more details. This conference has been approved for 6.25 contact hours of nursing credit.

Learning objectives

1. Identify the signs of Sepsis in a patient present in the hospital emergency department
2. Interpret the importance of the SEP-1 Bundle
3. Use BLASTERS as a tool to treat patients
4. Develop strategies to protect your nursing license

Mask Fit Test: Available for Two Days in August

Occupational health will be returning to Prosper for two days in August so that employees can complete their mask fit test.

When: Aug. 11 & Aug. 25 from 6:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

We will have additional mask fit dates on Sept. 8 and 9. Sign ups will open in August. 

Facial hair: If you have facial hair growth of more than ONE day or any facial hair that crosses the seal of the N95, the fit testing staff cannot provide your fit test. Please do not ask them to try to provide the fit test since that is in violation of federal OSHA regulations.

Our preference is for our Cook Children’s employees to be fitted by our Occupational Health Team. If you miss your appointment AND are due prior to our next visit, please obtain a CareNow fit test authorization form the admin offices or housing supervisor.

Fit testing will be in the MOB specialty clinic building 3^rd floor behind the admin offices. Please be on time, do NOT schedule during your work hours.

Reminder: Food and Unsolicited Donations

To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, please remember that we cannot accept any unsolicited donations, including food or snacks, from outside individuals. If someone attempts to drop off donations in your area, please immediately contact Security. They are equipped to assess the situation and handle it appropriately. Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in helping us maintain a secure environment for everyone. Thank you for always keeping safety as our top priority.

Quarterly Clinical Staff Meeting

Our Prosper team recently gathered for an engaging Quarterly Clinical Staff Meeting with Vice President of Primary and Specialty Services Teresa Baker and Director of Practice Operations Courtney Campbell. Beyond productive discussions, the team participated in a fun and competitive "Cup Relay" team-building exercise!
