Prosper News Update (March 11, 2026)

Good morning Prosper family, 

We hope you are having a wonderful Patient Safety Awareness Week! The activities continue with Zero Harm Rounding on Thursday, and we’ll wrap up the week by wearing our favorite team jerseys on Friday. Additionally, nominations are coming up for the Daisy Leadership Award, Great 10 Nurses, and Social Worker of the Year. Please start thinking about which of your outstanding colleagues deserve to be recognized! 

Housekeeping Note: The Ironman race will take place in Prosper this Sunday, which may impact traffic. Please plan your travel routes accordingly. For more details, see the inside of the attached newsletter.

IRONMAN 3/15 Road Closures

On Sunday, March 15 there will be potential traffic delays due to the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Dallas-Little Elm that takes place in Denton County. The cycling route will travel through portions of Prosper. 

No roads in Prosper are expected to be fully closed but residents may experience traffic delays beginning as early as 7 a.m. and continuing into the afternoon as officers manage intersections to ensure the safety of athletes and motorists. 

Prosper roadways that may experience delays include: 

• Southbound Dallas Parkway
• Westbound First Street
• Gee Road 

Cyclists are expected to travel through Prosper between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Personnel from the Prosper Police Department and other regional agencies will be stationed along the route to help residents move safely in and out of neighborhoods.

It’s Almost Time for Slime!

Cook Children's Slime-A-Doc 2026 will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 30, on the South Tower Lawn at Medical Center-Fort Worth to celebrate National Doctors’ Day.

Visit this CookNet site to place your vote for which physician, nurse, family support service team member, leadership team member, advanced practice provider, social worker, volunteer and “wild card” participant you want to see covered in slime. Voting ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13.

Keep an eye on Cook Children's social media accounts – the ballot will be released there as well. Don't forget to share with your friends and family so they can vote too!

Cook Children’s Peer Support Program

The Peer Support Program aims to strengthen a culture of connection, care and emotional well-being among our team. Peer supporters are fellow employees who volunteer to be there when someone needs to talk.

Training for the Peer Support Program will be held from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on March 30. There are 25 spots available.

We are so excited to partner with Windsong Ranch for their Easter Eggstravaganza Party. This is a great event to promote your practice and get out in the community and meet potential patients. This is a FREE family event, so feel free to bring your family to enjoy the festivities. There'll be an Easter Bunny, food trucks, carnival rides, crafts and more.

Cook Children's is so pleased to be the Title Sponsor of the Celina Touch-A-Truck Event for 2026. We will have Teddy Bear Transport Ambulance at our booth along with fun giveaways for kids. Bring your kiddos and family out to enjoy this fun, free, family event. We would love to have physicians and staff members volunteer to meet and greet with the community.

Celina Cajun Fest

Cook Children’s is the Kids Zone sponsor and will have a booth. This is a great opportunity to represent Cook Children’s, get volunteer hours or market your practice or services to the community. This will be a busy and fun event and is free for the whole family. Enjoy carnival rides, inflatables, a Gator Show, vendor booths and all the crawfish you can eat. As it gets dark, enjoy live music from the Eli Young Band.
