Prosper News Update (Oct. 22, 2025)

Good afternoon Prosper family,

Welcome to the glorious weather of fall! Please remember that we are in our Joint Commission window and they can visit us anytime for our 3 day survey. If you have issues listed on the JC checklist, please report them. It takes all of us to stay compliant and keep our house beautiful! We have lots of fun activities coming up and Halloween is right around the corner!

Kindness at Cook Children's - Prosper

👻 Prosper Boo Bash is Around the Corner!

Get ready, Cook Children's - Prosper! It's almost time to celebrate Halloween at Cook Children's. Start planning your most creative costumes and decorating those pumpkins. We can't wait to see the inventive ideas you and your teams come up with!

Costume Contest

Halloween costumes can be worn on all shifts from Oct. 28 - 31 and must follow dress code (no hats, shorts, masks and no gore or clowns.)

The winning categories are: individual most creative costume, individual funniest costume, best small group (up to 5 people,) and best large group (up to 12 people.)

Please download and fill out this registration form with your group or individual photo. Email it to ProsperAdminLeadership@cookchildrens.org by midnight on Oct. 31. Winners will be announced the following week.

Pumpkin Contest

Decorated pumpkins will be due by Oct. 24. Patients and families will vote on 1st, 2nd and 3rd place! Please download and fill out the registration form here. Email the form to ProsperAdminLeadership@cookchildrens.org.

Watch Party: Halloween Hoopla

Join us to watch a livestream of the Halloween Hoopla in classrooms 1621/1622 at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Some trick-or-treat goodies will be provided!

Patient Halloween Event

Teams and departments are invited to participate in celebrating Halloween with our patients with a trick-or-treat and craft event in the Atrium. Please see details and guidelines below. Employee Reminders

Parking

As we get busier and head into winter season, please park as close to Highway 380 as possible. This allows parking for our families. We appreciate your understanding.

Eating & Drinks

Please do not eat in patient care areas, this includes the nurse’s stations. Remember to place your drinks in the hydration stations on the unit. Thank you for your attention to this.

Process Improvement Event at Cook Children's - Prosper

Cook Children’s - Prosper recently completed our first Process Improvement event and provided recommendations to better serve our patient families as they arrive and navigate their specialty clinic visits.

The Prosper PAS team and MOB clinic staff collaborated to address patient feedback on the check-in process and improve how we communicate instructions for visits so families can know what to expect. With the help of CCHCS Process Improvement department, these teams connected in a two-day Kaizen event to analyze the current process for registration, identify root causes and opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations to better serve patients at our campus.

Donations for Our Community

Cook Children's - Prosper and the Prosper UCC are collecting items to support LovePACS to serve children in need in Prosper, Celina and Gunter. For Week 4 (the final week,) we will focus on collecting ramen noodles and/or microwave popcorn.

Frisco ENT

Check out the amazing pumpkin contest from our team at Frisco ENT! 🎃 Our patients are voting for their favorites, and during the week of Halloween, the winning team will receive a prize from our physicians.

Cook Children's University: Stop the Gossip

Being a great teammate is essential to delivering on our Promise, values, commitments, and experience standards. A great teammate knows how to demonstrate respect and kindness, build trust, and make positive connections with others. In this course, you will learn the impact of gossip, how to stop gossip in a proactive way, and how to positively support the work experience.

• Discuss the meaning of gossip.

• Identify behaviors associated with gossip.

• Recognize the impact of gossip.

• Explain how gossip contradicts Cook Children’s culture platform.

• Discuss how to be a positive team member by not engaging in gossip.

• Model Cook Children’s Promise, values, commitments, and experience standards.

Fall Event Volunteers Needed

Cook Children's will have a presence at many fall events starting in the next few weeks and we need lots of volunteers to make these successful!

Oct. 24 - 26 - Boo at the Zoo

We are back at our favorite community event in Fort Worth! We will have a treat station and will be handing out candy at the Fort Worth Zoo. This is a great event to get service hours and represent Cook Children’s. (Please note that this event does not allow you to bring family/kids with you to volunteer, unfortunately.)

Saturday, Oct. 25 - Celina Beware of the Square

This is a great family friendly event with the best trick or treat trail. We are the kids zone sponsor and will have a booth all night. You can bring your family while you work a shift! This event is free.

This is a fun Halloween themed festival in downtown Plano, we need lots of volunteers to make this successful!

This is a fun family event in the Windsong HOA neighborhood behind the hospital. There will be games, fall crafts, food trucks, vendors so bring the family out.
