Scam Alert: Callers Posing as Health Plan Asking for Information

We have received reports that several areas within Cook Children’s have received calls, primarily on land lines, with individuals identifying themselves as employees with the Health Plan. The people on the line can become aggressive, intrusive and will say they are calling for compliance reasons. These are spam calls. This is not the manner in which the Health Plan would ever operate.

We ask that you do not engage with them or answer any questions. Simply say, “I cannot verify your identity over the phone and I need to end this call” or you can let them know you are transferring them to security. You can hang up the phone following this statement.
