So cute! Kangaroo-A-Thon
The Cook Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) hosted a Kangaroo-A-Thon to raise awareness and encourage parents to practice kangaroo care, which involves placing a baby directly on a parent or caregiver’s chest. Skin-to-skin contact is proven to have dramatic positive effects on preemies and full-term babies. The practice also allows babies and parents to bond on a very primal, physical level.
To add to the festivities, Jasper the 6-month-old joey hopped by to take photos with our employees and patient families!
