Spotlight on Alex Rodriguez
#WeAreCookChildrens
In 2021, Alexandrea “Alex” Rodriguez joined Cook Children’s as a medical receptionist II in the Orthopedic clinic in the Dodson Specialty building. As a Fort Worth native, Alex was very familiar with Cook Children’s being a pillar for kids in the community. Outside of work, she balances life as a mother to five: Jayda, 14; King, 11; Janelle, 8; Luz, 6; Gigi, 4.
”I love children and knew I wanted to work somewhere I can help them. I had always heard Cook Children’s was a great place to work and I’ve learned that is very true,” Alex said. “The patients are so inspirational! These children have gone through so much in so little time and still manage to smile and be happy.”
As a member of the front desk team, Alex is one of the first employees that patients and families encounter when they arrive at their appointments. She welcomes them with a warm smile that is calming and welcoming to all visitors. Alex’s work ethic goes beyond her day-to-day duties as she is always willing to lend a helping hand to all her colleagues when they need assistance.
“Alex is a very hard-working employee. She is very reliable and completes her assignments on time,” said Lili Ferretis, her supervisor. “She is always ready to learn new tasks, she is a team player and she helps others with any registration or scheduling questions they might have.”
Alex plans to continue her education while working at Cook Children’s and desires to build a career in health care. Through her hard work, positivity and kindness, Alex is a role model to her own family and all of her co-workers, patients and families.
Inspired by the resilience of her children and patients, Alex works towards one goal: to provide and support a healthy future #WeAreCookChildrens.
