Hearts & Heroes Night: Complimentary Volleyball Tickets

We are excited to share a special invitation for our staff to attend Hearts & Heroes Night with Dallas Pulse Volleyball! To honor the dedication of healthcare workers, first responders, and military personnel, our team members are being offered two complimentary tickets to the match on at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, April 17, 

This evening is dedicated to recognizing the heroes in our community with special in-game tributes and activations throughout the concourse.

How to Redeem: To claim your seats, scan the QR code on the attached flyer or visit the Hearts and Heroes Tickets link. After selecting your seats and proceeding to checkout, you will see the price of your first two tickets reduced to $0. If you'd like to bring more guests, you will also have the option to purchase additional tickets at a discounted rate.

Pinwheels on Campus

The month of April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and here at Cook Children's Health Care System we acknowledge every child deserves a loving childhood. You will notice pinwheels on our Prosper and Fort Worth campuses. These pinwheels are a national symbol for child abuse prevention. 

Each pinwheel at our campus represents one of the nearly 1,300 cases of abuse reported in Denton County.

Heart of Melissa Spring Street Fair

We are excited to add a new event to our spring line up this year to support our north market. The Heart of Melissa Spring Street Fair will take place from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on April 11 in downtown Melissa. It is hosted by the Melissa Chamber of Commerce. This event brings live music, food vendors, a kids area and more. The event draws 20,000 - 25,000 people annually.

Universal Date for Mask Fits

Starting this July, we are transitioning to an annual schedule for respiratory mask fit testing, which will take place every July moving forward. 

Here is what this change means for the first year: 
 

• Those that had mask fitting in March 2026 will perform mask fitting in July 2027. If the employee experiences significant weight loss/gain or facial changes, the employee will need to be refitted. The employee will contact Occupational Health Services for instructions.
• Those that are due April-June 2026 will instead perform mask fitting in July 2026.
• Everyone who has a respiratory mask fitting requirement will be completed in the month of July.
• Occupational Health will be at Medical Center-Prosper for July dates: Tuesday through Thursday on July 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22 & 23 from 6 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Appointments will open for scheduling starting on May 20.
• OSHA questionnaires must be completed by June 22 so that the Occupational Health Team can review.
• If employee does not obtain a mask fitting at the Medical Center-Prosper, then alternative sites will need to be utilized to meet the requirement but will still maintain the July due date every year. Approved options will be shared with the administration at Prosper. This is mainly for those out on leave and needing a mask fit upon return to work.
• Those who do not complete their mask fitting by Aug. 1 will be subject to corrective action, up to and including suspension or termination.

50th Bariatric Case at Medical Center - Prosper

On March 10, we reached a truly wonderful milestone as Kanika Bowen-Jallow, M.D. successfully completed her 50th bariatric procedure at Medical Center - Prosper. This achievement is more than just a number; it represents 50 lives changed and 50 new beginnings for members of our community.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication Dr. Bowen-Jallow brings to her patients every single day. Her expertise, combined with the compassion of our talented nursing and support staff, has made this program a shining example of excellence. It is the heart and hard work of this entire team that allows us to provide such a high level of personalized care.

As we celebrate this 50-case mark, we look forward to a bright future. We are excited to watch this program continue to flourish and expand, helping even more people reach their health and wellness goals. Congratulations to Dr. Bowen-Jallow and the whole team for their unwavering commitment to our patients!

Celebrating Our Physicians: National Doctors’ Day 2026

At Medical Center - Prosper, our physicians are the cornerstone of the exceptional care we provide to our community. This week, we are taking the opportunity to celebrate National Doctors’ Day by expressing our collective gratitude for their expertise, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our patients. Our doctors were treated to breakfast burritos and yogurt parfaits earlier this week.

Our celebration features a heartfelt display of gratitude through "scrub-note" messages. These colorful, scrub-shaped notes allow staff to share personal words of thanks and encouragement, serving as a visual testament to the impact our doctors have every day. Dr. Anthony Anani wishes to express his appreciation for so many kind words shared this week.

The festivities also include a more lighthearted tradition: Slime-A-Doc 2026. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Robertson for being such a fantastic sport during the event. Seeing one of our esteemed leaders covered in slime for the sake of team morale was a highlight for everyone involved, proving that while our work is serious, our spirit remains vibrant and connected.

Digital Door Signs

When a patient on isolation precautions is temporarily transferred in EPIC (e.g., to MRI, SPA, OR, etc.) and then returned to their room, a new isolation precautions order must be placed to ensure the appropriate PPE symbols display on the door sign. Please be aware of this limitation and ask the provider for a new isolation precautions order, if needed, when the patient returns to their room.

IRONMAN 3/15 Road Closures

On Sunday, March 15 there will be potential traffic delays due to the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Dallas-Little Elm that takes place in Denton County. The cycling route will travel through portions of Prosper. 

No roads in Prosper are expected to be fully closed but residents may experience traffic delays beginning as early as 7 a.m. and continuing into the afternoon as officers manage intersections to ensure the safety of athletes and motorists. 

Prosper roadways that may experience delays include: 

• Southbound Dallas Parkway
• Westbound First Street
• Gee Road 

Cyclists are expected to travel through Prosper between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Personnel from the Prosper Police Department and other regional agencies will be stationed along the route to help residents move safely in and out of neighborhoods.

Community Health Needs Assessment

The Cook Children’s Community Health Needs Assessment Survey was recently shared with area families. This survey is given annually and meant to help us gather information to allow us to better fulfill our System Promise - to improve the well-being of every child in our care and communities.

Facilities Work Order Request System Update

Starting March 2, the facilities work order request system, known as FAMIS 360, will transition to single-sign-on access. All users will need to be set up in the system to submit requests. However, if you already have access, no further action is required. 

There are two ways to submit a facilities work order request: 

• Via the Prosper Cook Home Page, using the link labeled “Facilities Work Requests- Prosper”.
• On the Main Cook Home Page, by pinning “Real Estate Maintenance Request”.  

Both links will direct you to the appropriate property for submitting your request.

We are proud to announce that Karen Jones, BSN, RN, from our Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) unit, is our newest DAISY Award recipient. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Jasmine has been extraordinary in the impact she has on compassionate patient care by creating an environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development, and ethical behavior are modeled and supported.

Final Reminder: Complete UKG Workforce Management System Training 

Kronos will be replaced with the UKG Workforce Management System. To ensure your schedules, paychecks and PTO are correct, all staff are required to complete the UKG Workforce Management System Training by the launch (go-live) date on Feb. 8, 2026.  

Training modules tailored to your role and scheduling responsibilities are now available on ULearn. Failure to complete this training may result in errors regarding your: 

• Paychecks
• Time clock submissions / schedules
• Paid Time Off (PTO) submissions

Cardiac Arrest Awareness Resource Fair Recap

We had a fantastic turnout this past Monday with 50 neighbors attending our comprehensive safety event. Our attendees are now better prepared for emergencies, having trained in:

• Hands-Only CPR & AED usage
• Child Safety: Safe baby sleep, water safety, and poison prevention
• Fire & Vehicle Safety: On-site car seat checks and a special visit from the Prosper Fire Department and their engine!

Happy New Year, who can believe it is 2026! And we had a birthday! Happy third birthday to us!  Your leadership team is thankful for all that you have done to make our facility successful; we will continue to grow throughout this year and impact the lives of families in our community. Please remember that each and every one of you make a difference every time you enter the doors. 

Remember that we are in our Joint Commission window, if you see something that needs to be addressed or if you have questions please speak up. We are looking forward to a successful survey and want to address all issues before they visit.

One last thing, we want to thank everyone who helped plan our birthday party and came and celebrated. We also want to thank our dietary staff for cooking for us and for serving us. Please thank them, they put tons of effort into our celebration, and the food was absolutely wonderful!

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Event and Resource Fair

Join us from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, at Medical Center - Prosper, where we will be hosting a come and go as you please event to provide education and resources on sudden cardiac arrests. We will have hands-only CPR/AED training in rooms 1621 and 1622 and car seat checks in the parking lot. To register for a car seat check appointment, scan the QR code available here.

For those employees with a mask fit, you must be fit tested every 12 months. It is imperative that you schedule and keep your appointment, to ensure compliance with OSHA regulation and CCHCS policy HR950 (Respiratory Protection Program).

2026 Primary Care and Mental Health Benefits: Texas Health Family Care - Prosper is now open

To better serve employees and their covered families in 2026, Cook Children's is transitioning to a new partnership with Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG). This replaces the current CareATC benefit. To launch our new service, we're beginning in Prosper. 

Texas Health Family Care - Prosper is now open. The facility is a six-to-eight-minute drive east of the Prosper campus at 1970 W. University Drive, #100. Employees will find:

1. Reserved appointment times exclusively for Cook Children's and covered family members (18+).
2. Access to over 1,600 primary care visits in 2026 at no cost or low cost.

Cook Children's and THPG Fort Worth is slated to open in spring 2026. During this time CareATC Fort Worth will still be available.

Gingerbread House Contest Winner

Thank you to everyone who participated in the gingerbread house contest. The creativity and effort that went into each gingerbread house was amazing. Our patients and families absolutely loved seeing everyone’s houses. We received so many wonderful comments from our families and it is clear how much joy this brought to our kiddos. Anything we can do to make coming to a medical appointment feel a little less scary and a little more fun truly makes a difference and this was a perfect example of that.

It's really special to see everyone getting involved for the sake of our patients and their families, and we are incredibly thankful that you took time out of your busy schedule to participate.

Time Clock Update: Badge Tapping

As part of our move toward a new UKG Workforce Management system launching in 2026, we are updating the way everyone clocks in and out.

Starting @ 12 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 15, you will no longer use the handheld scanner to clock in and out. Instead: 

• Tap your employee badge on the blue icon on the right side of the time clock to clock in and out.
• If you experience issues with badge tapping, it may be because you have not turned in your old badge.
  • Please use your new badge and return your old badge to your leader.
  • You can always clock in and out on a computer if needed.

Where Is It Happening? The Medical Center - Fort Worth campus and associated buildings (including Calmont, Child Study Center, etc.), Medical Center - Prosper, clinics across the system & our UCCs. A couple of locations will experience a slightly different rollout process, and they have been sent communication about this. 

Why This Change?
This is the next step toward a more modern and consistent timekeeping experience across the organization — with a simplified tap-to-clock process that will continue once UKG is live. No setup or badge activation is required; your existing badge already supports this functionality.

Last week, the Prosper MOB team came together for our annual holiday celebration, and it was such a special time to connect outside of our busy workdays. We enjoyed great food, fun games, music, lots of laughs, and—most importantly—each other’s company. It was wonderful to slow down, get into the spirit of the season, and see everyone together celebrating all that we’ve accomplished as a team. Moments like these are a reminder of how lucky we are to work alongside such an incredible group of people. And what's a competition without a prize?

The winner will get to display the Prayer Bear trophy for an entire year and also the department that collects the most Bears will receive a PIZZA PARTY. There will be one winner from the hospital side and one winner from the clinic side.

Bears can be dropped off in the MOB, Pulmonary Clinic, on the 3^rd floor, to Madelyn Hannon.

The winner will get to display the Prayer Bear trophy for an entire year and also the department that collects the most Bears will receive a PIZZA PARTY. There will be one winner from the hospital side and one winner from the clinic side.

Bears can be dropped off in the MOB, Pulmonary Clinic, on the 3^rd floor, to Madelyn Hannon.

We are well on our way to Thanksgiving, and I hope you have found value and joy in identifying one thing to be thankful for each day. We hope you had fun at the gift shop sale and got some good stuff! We will have Thankful Thursday this week from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a hot chocolate bar. Your leadership team is so thankful for you and all that you do for the patients and their families. Town Hall will be Monday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there! As we prepare for the holidays, we will celebrate with Jingle Mingle on Dec. 3. That is always a good time!

Prosper Neurology Launches Eyebox

Big News! Our Prosper neurology team officially went live with our very first Eyebox patient on Nov. 11!

The Eyebox is an innovative FDA-cleared device that uses advanced eye-tracking technology to help quickly and accurately assess concussions. What once took 45+ minutes can now be assessed in under five minutes with the Eyebox! We’re thrilled to bring this cutting-edge technology to our patients and continue advancing the way that we deliver care! 

Stop Gossip: How to be a Great Teammate

Being a great teammate is essential to delivering on our Promise, values, and commitments. A great teammate knows how to demonstrate respect and kindness, build trust, and make positive connections with others. In this course, you will learn the impact of gossip, how to stop gossip in a proactive way, and how to positively impact the team and work experience.

Employees interested in the upcoming sessions must register on ULearn. 

The next session will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 8 and another will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday Dec. 11. Both sessions will be held in 1621/1622 Prosper.

What a great time we had last week with all of the Halloween festivities, the atrium was full of fun and some of you got to see Kevin become a mummy.  Check out all of the wonderful photos inside, this was truly a wonderful time for our patients, families, and staff. Your teamwork and making work fun really stood out, thank you for your dedication to our patients and brightening their day. We have entered the season of thankfulness, we challenge each one of you to think of ONE thing every day that you are thankful for! There is so much! We are settling into the holiday season and November has arrived quickly, bringing with it much milder temps. From Transport to Trauma: Collaborative Simulation Advances Care Readiness at Cook Children's - Prosper

Members of the Cook Children’s Education and Professional Development team recently partnered with colleagues at Cook Children’s Medical Center - Prosper to strengthen trauma care readiness as Prosper advances toward its Trauma designation. 

Roberta Miller, Leslye Ammons, and Sarah Smith collaborated with Sam Shelby, D.O., Sifrance Tran, M.D., Julio Castillo, M.D. and Kelly Stevens, R.N., to design high-fidelity simulation scenarios tailored to pediatric patients and real-world clinical situations. These simulations provided teams with valuable hands-on practice in responding to critical cases involving children and their families.

Joint Commission Ponderings

Did you know? If Joint Commission asked you about temp or humidity requirements for a particular room that we have created this handy, dandy cheat sheet for you on each temp monitoring device in the hospital?  

If you see a monitor without these range please reach out so that we can correct that! If this thermometer was alarming you would reach out to facilities.

Did you also know, our gas access ports, aka “Christmas trees” can’t be set up in a room waiting for a patient? These are considered single use and should be supplied once a patient is in the room and needs these devices. Thank you for your attention to this matter! Please don’t throw the blenders away.

Process Improvement Event at Cook Children's - Prosper

Cook Children’s - Prosper recently completed our first Process Improvement event and provided recommendations to better serve our patient families as they arrive and navigate their specialty clinic visits.

The Prosper PAS team and MOB clinic staff collaborated to address patient feedback on the check-in process and improve how we communicate instructions for visits so families can know what to expect. With the help of CCHCS Process Improvement department, these teams connected in a two-day Kaizen event to analyze the current process for registration, identify root causes and opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations to better serve patients at our campus.

In the News: NICU at Cook Children's - Prosper

Cook Children’s Medical Center – Prosper President Kevin Greene and Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse Manager Tiffany Pullom spoke with Briseida Holguin from CBS News Texas about our new, state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) built to meet the urgent needs of our rapidly growing community.

PPE: Small Steps, Big Protection

Every day each of us makes countless choices that impact patient safety. One of the most powerful choices we can make is also one of the simplest – wearing the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Why it Matters

PPE isn’t just a box we check, it’s our shield. It protects us from harmful germs and prevents us from carrying infections from one patient to another. The extra seconds it takes to put on a gown or mask can mean the difference between stopping an infection in its tracks or allowing it to spread.

Think of PPE as a Team Sport

When you put on your gloves, gown, mask, or eye protection, you’re not just protecting yourself, you are protecting your patients, your coworkers, and even your family at home. Every time you use PPE correctly, you’re showing your commitment to our team and to every person who walks through our doors.

No Shortcuts

It can be tempting to skip PPE for a “quick task,” but germs don’t take shortcuts – and neither should we. Consistency is what keeps us safe. Properly donning and doffing PPE every single time is what makes the difference.

Cook Children's - Prosper and the Prosper UCC are collecting items to support LovePACS to serve children in need in Prosper, Celina and Gunter. In Week 3 (Oct. 11 - 17), we will accept granola bars and snacks. Thank you for contributing to this great local cause! For Week 4, we will focus on ramen noodles and/or microwave popcorn.

Lab Milestone

The Prosper Laboratory Medical Director, Jason Wang, M.D., led the laboratory team to a major milestone last month. The team conducted a one day peer regulatory inspection at a pediatric hospital in Oakland, California to ensure compliance with our CAP, (College of American Pathologists) standards. It’s an opportunity to collaborate with peers and for inspectors to provide valuable feedback to ensure high quality care is given. The team was made up of Prosper Laboratory Leadership, aspiring leaders in the Prosper core lab, Sandy Cope, M.D., and two local inspectors. It was a great learning and team building experience for our CCMCP Lab team.

Staff Appreciation

The Sunshine Committee in the MOB recently hosted a fun sundae bar in celebration of our amazing staff. Team members stopped by to build their own ice cream sundaes and enjoy time together. It was a wonderful way to show appreciation while sharing laughs (and sprinkles!).

Looking ahead, the Sunshine Committee has more great events planned in the MOB. This includes our annual Friendsgiving in November and a festive Christmas party event in December. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

New NICU Expands Care for Newborns in One of the Nation's Fastest Growing Regions

Purpose-built to meet the urgent needs of a rapidly growing community, the NICU at Cook Children’s Medical Center - Prosper is the first to be housed within a children’s hospital in the region.

Celebrating With a Ribbon Cutting & Blessing

We celebrated the official opening of our NICU with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event brought together members of the Cook Children’s team and community leaders, including Town of Prosper Mayor David Bristol, to commemorate this exciting milestone. This ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to honor everyone who made this new unit possible and to share this achievement with the community.

In addition to our ribbon-cutting ceremony, the new NICU was honored with a special blessing. Our Spiritual Care team, along with members from many teams, participated in a ceremony to bless the unit and everyone who will work and be cared for within its walls. This moment of reflection and spiritual peace was a beautiful way to set the intention for the compassionate care that will be delivered here for years to come.

DAISY Award Winner: A Story of Trust and Compassion

This month, we are thrilled to recognize Hannah Plack, RN, from our Infusion Center, with the DAISY Award. Hannah's nomination comes from a parent who shared a powerful story about the trust she built with her young patient.

After a difficult morning getting an IV started, the child became very anxious. The parent recalled, "Watching her be patient with my daughter, who was crying and not giving good feedback, was something that brought tears to my eyes."

Hannah's calm and patient approach, her ability to remember the child's preferences, and her dedication to building relationships are what make her truly exceptional. As the parent wrote, "She truly deserves this award."

Thank you, Hannah, for being an outstanding example of the compassionate care that defines our team. Your commitment to making every patient feel valued is an inspiration.

Get Ready for Halloween Festivities!

Get ready, Prosper! It’s almost time to celebrate Halloween at Cook Children's. Start planning your most creative costumes and thinking about how you'll decorate your pumpkins. We can't wait to see what you come up with! See more details in the next Prosper newsletter.

Halloween costumes can be worn on all shifts from Oct. 28 - 31 and must follow dress code. The winning categories are : individual most creative costume, individual funniest costume, best small group (up to 5 people,) and best large group (up to 12 people.)

Decorated pumpkins will be due by Oct. 22. Patients and families will vote on 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

This World Sepsis Day, our teams from across the medical center shared crucial knowledge that could save a child's life. While ghosts, goblins, and ghouls are fun this time of year, sepsis is a real monster we are here to fight. Thank you to all of our teams and departments who shared this critical information! These informative stations helped our team members unmask the signs of sepsis and protect our young patients. Our goal was for everyone to be prepared, not spooked.

Good afternoon Prosper family,

It looks like we are headed into fall - at least the weather feels like it. It is funny that we have developed new terms like “false fall!” Texas weather keeps us guessing for sure, at least football and pumpkin spice have arrived!  If you can believe it, we have built out the entire first tower of the hospital. For those of you who started with us when we opened, that is A LOT of growth in two years and eight months! You all are amazing and have tolerated the changes, expanding services, and opening of new units so well. Your dedication, resilience, and continuous learning is so appreciated! We continue to work on projects extending through the rest of the year, expanding our ED, the playground, and building out some rooms on the 4^th floor for our EMU. We are excited to continue to grow with you all. Don’t forget to participate in the sepsis booths this Friday, see info below. This was a lot of fun for you all last year and we are eager to see your creativity! Here’s to heading into cooler weather, fall holidays, and hopefully finishing up some of the construction outside our front lawn!

Bariatrics Program Celebrates 25 Surgeries

Cook Children's - Prosper is celebrating a major achievement! Our Bariatrics team has successfully completed their 25th surgery, marking a significant milestone and reflection of our Pinky Promise, “Everything for the child.” This accomplishment reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire team, which provides comprehensive care to young patients and their families.

"This is more than just a number; it's a testament to our team's hard work and commitment to our patients," said Anthony Anani, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Cook Children's - Prosper. "Each surgery represents a new beginning for a child, a chance to lead a healthier life."

Spooktacular Sepsis Awareness! 🎃

Flu Vaccine Clinic at Prosper on Sept. 22

Employees must get their flu vaccine by the Oct. 17 deadline. Employees are required to receive the influenza vaccine each year to help protect our patient families, fellow employees, and our community, against this serious disease. 

A flu vaccine clinic will be held in Prosper from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 22 at the 3^rd floor conference room 3332/3333.

School Nurses Get a Virtual Boost to Keep Kids Healthy

Nurses in the Celina Independent Schools district now join 14 other school districts in offering Cook Children's virtual health appointments to students, with no upfront cost, through the nurse’s office. This program allows school nurses to connect with a Cook Children's provider to diagnose common illnesses such as earaches, fevers, and sore throats, right at school. This partnership helps parents avoid leaving work to take their child to the doctor while also reducing student absences. By providing this convenient access to care, we are meeting families where they are and ensuring children get the support they need to stay healthy. We've shared the exciting news that our very own Rebecca Brovina, MSHS, BSN, RN, CPN, was named one of the Great 100 Nurses for 2025. Now, you can get a closer look at what makes Rebecca so special. In this spotlight, learn more about Rebecca's dedicated work as a Research Nurse Coordinator at Cook Children's Pulmonology in Prosper. Dutch Bros Gives Back

In the spring, 12 North Texas Dutch Bros locations chose to give back to Cook Children’s Medical Center - Prosper. These stores raised an incredible $18,452.24 for our Children’s Fund that will help support uncompensated care for our children and their families. This support helps us continue our mission to provide everything for the child.

We are BACK to SCHOOL!!! Can you believe that we have moved right through summer? Before you know it, it will be all things pumpkin spice, the approach of fall, and Halloween! We have several things coming our way in the hospital, we moved back to the 4^th floor this week and added telemetry to our scope of service, the NICU is opening on Sept. 2 and we are moving into our trauma journey. It takes a village to provide high quality, seamless care and your leadership team is so proud of you all. Each one of you has an impact at your point of contact with our patients and families, these touchpoints occur across the healthcare system and YOU make a difference. It's our pleasure to announce that Walter Gibson, Chaplain from our Spiritual Care team, is the latest recipient of the Above & Beyond award! Nominated for his unwavering commitment to our patients and staff, Walter embodies the Cook Children's core values in every interaction. His remarkable story is a testament to the power of compassion and dedication. 

"I would like to nominate Walter Gibson, our part-time chaplain, for the Above and Beyond award. Walter is only scheduled to work on Fridays (as he has another full time job) but there have been several times he’s been called in last minute on other days. He drops everything and comes to work with a smile on his face and a great attitude. Anyone who has met Walter loves his upbeat, positive approach to everything he does. He just has a way of making you feel happy around him. 

"The very first morning he was in Prosper there was a patient death. Walter was so kind and caring with the family and staff, as if he’d been here doing this for years. He provided comfort and compassion that is unparalleled in the world we live in today. Everywhere he goes people light up when they see Walter. He doesn’t just believe in Cook Children’s core values, he lives them every single day."

Junior Volunteers Visit Ronald McDonald House

Each summer, our Junior Volunteers give back in a big way as they donate their time and energy serving our community. Last week, we had several of our Prosper Junior Volunteers spend their morning at Ronald McDonald House Dallas! These volunteers prepared and served breakfast to families with smiling faces.

The Cook Children’s Junior Volunteer Program provides a very rewarding experience, personal growth, and an opportunity to give back to the community. This program offers high school students who are interested in working with patients and families, and/or have a career interest in the medical or a related field, the chance to volunteer during the summer. Junior volunteers help with a variety of different projects, including escorting and wayfinding, entertaining patients and siblings through play and reading activities, and assisting with community events. College Football Dress-Up Days

From Aug. 21 to 24, employees are welcome to wear their favorite college football attire, such as jerseys and accessories, to celebrate the start of the season. All attire must be dress-code appropriate.

Mask Fit Test: Dates in September

Occupational Health will be returning to Prosper for two days in September so that employees can complete their mask fit test.

When: Sept. 8 and 9.

Facial hair: If you have facial hair growth of more than ONE day or any facial hair that crosses the seal of the N95, the fit testing staff cannot provide your fit test. Please do not ask them to try to provide the fit test since that is in violation of federal OSHA regulations.

Our preference is for our Cook Children’s employees to be fitted by our Occupational Health Team. If you miss your appointment and are due prior to our next visit, please obtain a CareNow fit test authorization from the admin offices or housing supervisor.

Fit testing will be in the MOB specialty clinic building 3^rd floor behind the administrative offices. Please be on time; do not schedule during your work hours.

MOB Team News: Peak Performer Winner and DAISY Nominee

We're thrilled to celebrate two outstanding members of our MOB team for their recent, well-deserved recognition! A huge congratulations goes to Kristen Lomeli, APRN, CPNP-AC, from our Prosper endocrinology clinic, who was honored with the prestigious Peak Performer Award. Her dedication truly shines! 

We're also incredibly proud to announce our very first MOB DAISY Award Nominee, Nicole Massey, RN, from our Prosper H/O Clinic. Both Kristen and Nicole exemplify the incredible talent and compassionate care that make our MOB team so exceptional. We're so lucky to have them!

Disaster Drill: A Collaborative Success!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our recent disaster drill! This vital exercise saw multiple departments and leaders working together, demonstrating incredible dedication and teamwork. These drills are essential for us to continuously improve our response strategies, ensuring we're always ready to provide the best possible care in any situation. Your commitment helps us strengthen our commitment to safety and our patients!

Christmas in July Patient Celebration

Our patients had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas in July! Cook Children's - Prosper was filled with cheer as children participated in festive crafts, creating their own holiday masterpieces. A highlight for many was the special visit from Santa Claus, who brought smiles to everyone he met. It was a joyful occasion, bringing a little bit of winter wonder to a summer day! 

Room Pressure Monitors

Room pressure is a very important infection control measure.

• Negative pressure rooms prevent infectious organisms from escaping into adjacent spaces.
• Positive pressure rooms prevent infectious organisms from entering the room.

Setra sensors are used to ensure rooms are either positive or negative based on room requirements. The facilities department monitors these sensors and receives notification when a room is out of compliance.

Negative or positive room pressure is achieved with the door closed. Please make sure the doors to all monitored rooms remain closed.

If a Setra sensor is alarming, staff are able to temporarily mute the alarm. If the reason for the alarm is an open door, please close the door and allow a few minutes for the alarm to resolve and the screen to return to green. If the alarm does not resolve and the sensor screen remains red, contact facilities.

World Sepsis Day is just around the corner on Sept. 13, and we're gearing up to shine a spotlight on sepsis in children. This serious complication of infection can be incredibly dangerous, but early recognition of the signs can be life-saving for our young patients. We're on the hunt for a compelling and memorable theme to drive our awareness campaign among the Prosper family. Mask Fit Test: Available for Two Days in August

Occupational health will be returning to Prosper for two days in August so that employees can complete their mask fit test.

When: Aug. 11 & Aug. 25 from 6:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

We will have additional mask fit dates on Sept. 8 and 9. Sign ups will open in August. 

Facial hair: If you have facial hair growth of more than ONE day or any facial hair that crosses the seal of the N95, the fit testing staff cannot provide your fit test. Please do not ask them to try to provide the fit test since that is in violation of federal OSHA regulations.

Our preference is for our Cook Children’s employees to be fitted by our Occupational Health Team. If you miss your appointment AND are due prior to our next visit, please obtain a CareNow fit test authorization form the admin offices or housing supervisor.

Fit testing will be in the MOB specialty clinic building 3^rd floor behind the admin offices. Please be on time, do NOT schedule during your work hours.
