Team Peak Performers: Patient Registration Team
The Patient Registration Team are Team Peak Performer recipients for the second quarter of 2022 (January-March). Below is their nomination letter.
A team from CBO volunteered to help Patient Access Services when we were very busy due to high census and being short-staffed. I wanted to recognize each of them and the impact they made on our department:
Erik volunteered to learn a new area and role in order to help out in the ED during a staffing crisis. He offered to work many extra shifts and even on holidays when there wasn't enough staff to serve patients and families. Since Erik has worked in different areas of the hospital, he has a vast knowledge of front-end and back-end workflows. He’s always willing to share that knowledge by helping his teammates or any other area in the hospital.
Teresa also volunteered to be trained in the ED when we were short-staffed. She worked many extra shifts for us over the last three months, including overnights, weekends, and holidays. Not only did Teresa jump right in and learn a whole new process, but she did it with a smile on her face and brought her “can do” attitude.
Cristy also went above and beyond picking up shifts in the ED and trained to perform a new role outside her normal duties. She brought positivity and helpfulness to every shift she worked. Cristy likes challenges and she’s great at multitasking. She is always willing to help out other departments.
This team’s support made a difference for patients. Families didn’t get unnecessary bills because insurance information was collected during registration, families didn’t have to wait to get registered after being discharged and the additional staff reduced wait times for patients to get registered.
This team’s willingness to assist us meant that everyone in Patient Access was able to take lunch breaks, step away for a break during their shift, take PTO and have a holiday off.
Most importantly, my team felt truly supported and cared for by their colleagues that volunteered to come help them. Erik, Teresa and Cristy jumped right in and built friendships with my team. They never complained and always showed up with a can-do attitude and willingness to do whatever needed to be done.
