Town Hall at Cook Children's - Prosper: A Year of Growth and Achievement

Prosper Townhall Sept 2024In Town Hall sessions that took place on Wednesday, Sept. 25, Prosper leadership shared updates with team members on various initiatives, highlighting our commitment to meet the evolving needs of our patient families and our communities. Cook Children’s is planning for the future by adding services, locations and team members to continue to provide exceptional care for our patients and their families.

Cook Children’s – Prosper won “Best Of” in two award categories from the readers of Living Magazine - Prosper & Celina:

  • Best Hospital: Cook Children’s Medical Center - Prosper
  • Best Emergency Department: Cook Children’s Prosper - Emergency Department

Key Updates

●     Patient Volume Surge: Prosper has experienced a significant increase in patient volume across all services, including inpatient, emergency department, specialty clinics, and urgent care.

●     Expanded Services: New and expanded services have been added to meet the diverse health care needs of the community. These include the launch of a bariatric surgery program, the establishment of an on-campus ophthalmology clinic and ongoing efforts toward achieving Level 3 trauma designation.

●     Market Share Growth: Cook Children's has seen an increase in both inpatient and outpatient market share, reflecting the high-quality care we provide to families.

●     Construction Progress: Significant construction is underway on Highway 380, estimated for the next three to five months.

The Prosper team is growing in both clinical and administrative positions. Our team members were commended for their ability to recruit new teammates.

Cook Children’s Physician Network updates:

●     Increase year-over-year in caring for new patients

●     Increase in total visits to Urgent Care

●     New primary care office acquisitions

●     Adding physicians and APPs to existing primary care locations

●     Strategy for additional specialty clinics outside of Prosper

Looking Ahead: Goals for 2025

Cook Children's - Prosper goals for 2025 include:

●     Completion and debut of our Level 3 NICU

●     Level 3 trauma program designation

●     Offering in-patient telehealth psychiatry visits

●     Expansion of the bariatric program

●     Offering in-patient psychology

●     Plastic/craniofacial surgery services

●     Adding team members to the hospital's staff

●     Investing in workforce development
