West Tower Construction: Staff Talking Points for Families

241011_West Tower Street View_7th AveBelow are talking points for staff to use when communicating with families during West Tower construction.  Communicating early and often helps ensure families are prepared for the changes.

General Acknowledgement & Reassurance

  • We are growing!  We really appreciate your patience during construction—it’s all part of improving your experience and meeting the needs of our growing community
  • We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but we’re committed to keeping your visit as smooth and safe as possible

Road Closures & Website Reminder

  • There will be intermittent road and crosswalk closures during the construction, which may affect how you get to us.  Please follow all posted signs.
  • We recommend checking Construction Updates | Cook Children's Medical Center (cookchildrens.org/construction) the day before your appointment for the most up-to-date closure information
    • Staff can also use this to help direct families calling in for help
  • Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early for all appointments as traffic is heavy around the campus

Addressing Noise

  • You may notice some noise during your visit.  We’re working to minimize this and appreciate your understanding.

Emphasizing Safety

  • Your safety is our priority.  We’ve implemented extra measures to keep all areas clean, secure and as easy as possible to navigate.
  • It is important to follow instructions on posted signs for your safety

Access & Navigation

  • Some entrances, hallways or sidewalks may be re-routed temporarily.  Please follow all posted signs.
  • While driving routes may change due to construction, all will remain open throughout:
    • The main hospital entrance
    • Patient parking garages
    • Dodson entrances
