Because we are a children’s hospital, our community depends on us during their most vulnerable moments. Whether you provide direct patient care or support our operations behind the scenes, your presence is vital. To ensure the safety and well-being of the children in our care, please keep the following in mind: - Continuous Coverage: Our patients and their families rely on us 24/7. Employees are expected to fulfill their scheduled shifts and remain on duty. Leaving a post during a workday to participate in external activities is not permitted, as it compromises our ability to provide safe, high-quality care.
- A Culture of Respect: We encourage an environment where diverse perspectives are met with the kindness and generosity that define our culture. Please continue to show one another the same empathy we show our patients in person and online.
- Time Off Requests: If you wish to participate in an event during work hours, please use our standard PTO request process. These requests will be reviewed based on departmental staffing needs to ensure patient safety remains our top priority.

 Winter Weather Checklist
Area forecasts indicate a potential for winter weather in the coming days. Cook Children's is preparing to help make sure that facilities are ready to handle winter weather if it arrives so that patients can be served and employees can get to work safely. We are closely tracking weather and road conditions. Should road conditions become unsafe, we will activate contingency plans for staff to remain on-site between shifts. Please monitor CookNet and be in contact with your leader to stay up to date on plans for your area. Employees are encouraged to finalize your winter weather plans now, including preparing your homes and families, gathering important items for a personal go-bag, and securing alternative plans for childcare or pet care if necessary.  More Play, Less Pain: Cook Children’s Named a ChildKind Certified Hospital
In November, Cook Children’s was named a ChildKind certified hospital for its commitment to helping children manage the pain associated with chronic conditions and medical care. It is one of only two hospitals in Texas, and the only one in North and West Texas, to achieve the certification. Receiving ChildKind certification is a highly prestigious recognition that places Cook Children’s among a select group of hospitals worldwide, according to Artee Gandhi, M.D., Cook Children’s medical director of Pain Management and endowed chair for the Center for Pain Management and Integrative Health.  You can now self-install Microsoft Windows 11
We are transitioning all Cook Children’s computers to Microsoft Windows 11. The Information Services team strongly encourages users to self-install Microsoft Windows 11 now to have control of when their computer restarts and updates. You can choose a time that works best for your schedule. The installation occurs in the background and should not disrupt any of your normal work. The final reboot will take about five to 15 minutes to complete the upgrade. Automatic installation of Microsoft Windows 11 will start after March 2, depending on your normal Windows monthly update cycle.
