COVID-19 Updates CoverSystem-Wide COVID-19 Update

Recently, we have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases within our community.

With that in mind, the Command Center is making recommendations (effective immediately) on meetings, face masks, visitors, and domestic and international travel.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 numbers at Cook Children’s and in our community. We appreciate you working with us to keep our patients, their families and each other as safe as possible.

pride month 2021Celebrating Pride Month and Caring For LGBTQ+ Youth

Our Promise states that every child's life is sacred and the prevention of harm to our patients is paramount. Sexual and gender minority youth have a higher prevalence and odds of poor mental health outcomes, suicidality, substance abuse, and homelessness.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride Month is celebrated in June and marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.

At Cook Children's, putting patient-centered care first creates a welcoming and safe environment for the LGBTQ+ patients and families we treat. Please take some time to read how to better care for this community and educate yourself to approach each encounter through a lens of cultural humility.

For our employees who identify, or have loved ones, in the LGBTQ+ community - or are committed allies - we stand with and support you!

Safety and Security Training for Cook Children's Employees

Security has always been a priority for Cook Children's and our team is dedicated to protecting our employees, patients and visitors. In the wake of recent events, we want to remind all staff of the training available, such as situational awareness, de-escalation strategies and active criminal event response.

Cook Children’s offers in-person and online security courses to provide employees with strategies to reduce risk in case of a shooting or other violence at any location in the system.

As a reminder, in the event of any emergency situation, it is important that you are registered in our Cook Children’s Alert System to receive timely notifications on your personal devices. The alerts will keep you up-to-date whether you are at work or not.
