DAISY Co-Founder Thanks Cook Children's Nurses Via Video

The Nursing Department held a special luncheon on July 10 for previous winners of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the tremendous compassion and skillful care given by nurses every day. During the event, they received a special thank you via video from none other than Bonnie Barnes, co-founder of the DAISY program. Please watch the video!

“We are very grateful to you for what you do every day, and we are very grateful for everything your team has done to elevate DAISY once again and make it truly special for you,” she said.

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of the late J. Patrick Barnes, to honor his memory by recognizing exceptional nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the super-human work they do all year round.

We normally offer this luncheon every other year to recognize all previous DAISY Award recipients from Cook Children’s who are still employed here. We were unable to have this luncheon during the pandemic, so it’s been a while since we had the last one. That makes this year's event even more amazing.
