Major Construction Update: 7th and Terrell Intersection Closure

Effective Monday, Sept. 14, the intersection of 7th and Terrell Avenues will close to vehicular traffic through early January. Review the map below for details on new traffic patterns and the best routes to your destination.

Commute & Traffic

 Allow extra time for your commute to accommodate traffic congestion and ensure you arrive safely and on time. Remain alert for vehicles and pedestrians navigating the campus.

Pedestrian Routes

The mid-block crosswalk on Terrell Avenue will close. Employees entering the Medical Center from the Terrell Garage or the south side of campus must use these alternative routes:

• Basement level: Enter through the South Tower entrance (badge access required).
• 3rd floor: Use the skybridge over Terrell Avenue (badge access required) to reach the 2nd floor of the Medical Center.
• Street level: Walk east to 6th Avenue.

Safety Reminders

• No jaywalking: Crossing mid-block on Terrell Avenue is hazardous. Please set a safe example for patients, families, and visitors. To cross Terrell Avenue, use only the skybridge or the crosswalk at the intersection of Terrell and 6th Avenues.
• Emergency Department: Do not use the ED entrance as a walk-through to access the hospital.

Upcoming Milestones

• Sidewalk closures: Sidewalks at the 7th and Terrell intersection close on Oct. 5. Further details will follow soon.
• Reopening: Terrell Avenue (from 7th Avenue to the South Tower) is scheduled to reopen to vehicles and pedestrians in early January.

Shuttles: Parking Services is providing a staff shuttle service solely for employees impacted by the closure of the 8th and Terrell Garage. These employees have each been reassigned to a specific exterior lot. This shuttle service is not available to other staff, patients, families, or visitors. Click here for more information.
