Sepsis at Cook Children’s: A Year of Progress and Innovation

Summary

Strike out sepsis: In honor of World Sepsis Day, join us for an employees-only event to meet with the teams that are involved with sepsis screening and caring for patients with sepsis. There will be games and prizes! The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the Atrium at Cook Children's Medical Center-Fort Worth.

In 2024, Cook Children’s has continued its relentless fight against sepsis, building on the impressive achievements of the previous year. With over 166,000 sepsis screens conducted and more than 6,200 positive cases identified, Cook Children's continues to lead the way in pediatric sepsis care.

Recognized Excellence

According to the Children’s Hospital Association’s (CHA) Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcome (IPSO) collaborative, Cook Children's has once again been recognized as a Top Performer in several critical areas:

  • Bundle Compliance Severe Sepsis
  • Bundle Compliance Septic Shock

Our commitment to advancing sepsis care is also evident in its contributions to medical research. A notable publication from the past year is: Bundled Care to Reduce Sepsis Mortality: The Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO) Collaborative. (2023) Pediatrics.
