Burnout Survey Launches Aug. 23, 2022

Cook Children's employeeAs you may recall, this survey was initially planned to launch earlier in the year, but we postponed it due to several factors including rising COVID-19 numbers, the Joint Commission visit and staffing issues.

We care about you and your well-being and we feel we can no longer delay this important survey.

Strengthening the health of our workforce is certainly a concern and a priority at Cook Children’s, which is why we have made it a strategic goal. To achieve this goal though, we first need to hear from you.

On Aug. 23, all employees hired by June 30, will receive an invitation to complete a burnout survey. The survey will be available to complete from Aug. 23 to Sept. 13.

ID&E Task Force Sets Foundation for a More Diversified Cook Children’s

ID&E Task ForceCook Children’s new Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Task Force (ID&E) has made a lot of headway since the call for applicants in April. An overwhelming number of employees applied to join the task force, which was narrowed to a group of 14 representing a wide array of diversity dimensions, roles and tenure throughout all Cook Children’s entities.

“Having this task force is nothing short of monumental,” said Wini King, senior vice president and chief communication and ID&E officer. “It’s taken several months to get the right balance of team members representing all parts of the system but we were able to do it. I’m more than grateful that these employees understand the importance of doing this work and how an inclusive environment benefits everyone.”

Over the past few months, the task force has spent about 15 hours together pouring through data, sharing workplace experiences, and having hard conversations about diversity within the organization.

Learn more about the group's crucial conversations and ID&E action plan based on six key pillars.

fwfdwaterdonation2 (1)Cook Children's employees donated cases of water and sports drinks on Thursday, July 28 to the Fort Worth Fire Department as crews continue battling fires in the dry, hot weather. Employees dropped off donations at the medical center in downtown Fort Worth from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. in an effort to support FWFD.

Compared to 2021, the department has responded to a 704% increase in grassfires since July 5.

“We work alongside one another to keep our community safe, especially for our patients. They do a lot for us throughout the year and this is a great opportunity, just a small gesture, to try to return that favor,” said Kaysey Pollan, director of Emergency Management at Cook Children's.
